1Gen-TundraGeneral discussion forum for the 2000 to 2006 Toyota Tundra.
This is a discussion thread titled "Throttle body spacer?", within the 1Gen-Tundra forum, part of the Truck Forums category.
I just purchased an Airaid Throttle body spacer, should be here in about two weeks. Just wondering if anyone had one already, this brand or any other?
BTW, first post, new to the forum!

I was just watching something on HorsepowerTV about these today... yeah, worthless. They did a bunch of HP and torque tests with different "upgrades", and the TB spacers added absolutely nothing.

From what I have read, you may or may not get impoved MPG. It improves some vehicles performance and does nothing for others. There is no way to tell unless you actually try one. Please let us know how it works out.

The carb. spacers on older cars worked beacaue they allowed the air and fuel more time to mix, but with the throttle bodies on our trucks they just make a cool whistling sound because they are only swirling the air, no fuel.

xactly. unless your rig's got a throttle body injection system (it doesnt). have a return label ready when you get it

Nothing too fancy, just better than stock!
So the Yamaha Emblem in my backwindow isn't just for looks?
On topic, I'd like to see how people who have a TBS are claiming they get better gas mileage. I suppose it would take that split second longer for air to reach the chamber, forcing the computer to think there was enough in there and fire with a touch less fuel. ... but if that were the case, I fail to see how give or take a thimble full of gas is going to effect mileage.

i remember way back when ,when many said i wouldn't gain a thing either.
well that 1 went out the window didn't it.
55moreHP and 35 of that to the rear wheel's.
for a few bolt on's, and the dyno proved it.
& now i can beat a hemi truck can you? ;-)
mikeB --- it's your truck, do as you see fit.
;-)

zapco you gained, i'm sure of it. just by what you did.
i had a k & n cai and my scan guage showed me a gain from the stock box.
i had a ase mech change out the k& N and i lost HP and put it back on and presto a gain. but because i wanted the unichip i had to go with volant and i'm glad i did, it worked out for me. i truely enjoy my truck now. but i do get tied of my toys rather quickly, even though i take them to a high level.
i spend a ton of money, i will never ever see it. but it's surely fun to do it, while the project is going on. gives me something to do.
whats best is seeing the results.
and proving others wrong.
remember it's your ride, enjoy it.

So do you have a throttle body spacer, in addition to all your oft mentioned bolt ons? The OP is certainly free to do what they please, my suggestion is get a refund.
And I can beat a hemi truck in my stock (performance wise) '03.
