I've been trying to find a Corolla for around 5K and no luck. When I find something it's gone within hours. Most are priced 2 grand over Kellys and still move fast.
I need to keep my Tundra since I need a truck at times. Just looking for a vehicle to save on gas.

2k over KBB instead of 2K below so 4k overpriced or 30,000 miles of gas for your Tundra just in mk/up right now.
Or about 3 to 4 years of driving it( 60,000 miles) just to recoup the mk/up difference in buying one or just driving the Tundra not even counting insurance.
Ride the Tundra a little longer until things calm down and prices will also.
I hope!

you want to sell it 2500 is more of what you will get. sorry not ment to insult you.
it's almost 9 years old. come on a reg cab, you paid maybe what 17.way back when.
i can buy a reg cab for 2008 for $21 now and it has a 5.7 V8 9 years newer.

so 7g's is alot. especially for alot of people now, no one is going out and spending money on vehciles now, they are worried about there home, and food on the table.
wait it out, or dump it, and save each month on insurence costs and gas, maintainence.
gorilla
I believe I paid around 23K new. Sticker was 25.5K

Yea, I been thinking the same thing, just as soon as I buy an econmy car prices would drop anyways. So, everyone should just chip in and buy be one.

I talked to a dealer friend the other day and he said that trucks aren't selling at all right now. Small cars are making them money these days.

Default Re: Can't sell my 2000.

I drive a Civic VX to work right now and it averages around 45 mpg. My truck averages around 16 mpg. At the current prices, it's saving me about $35/week averaging 250 miles per week going to work. If you bought a beater for $4000, you would have to run it for a little over 2 years at the current gas prices to pay for it at the mileage I'm running every week. That assumes no repair bills (very unlikely with a high mileage car) and that you bought one that gets 45 mpg. If you buy one that gets 35 mpg (more likely), you'll have to drive it for 3 years with no repair bills. This assumes you're buying a second vehicle and keeping the truck. Gas prices are absurd, but unless you run a lot of miles, it'll be hard to recoup the cost of the car. The only way to make out is sell the truck and buy a beater, if you can sell the truck for what you owe on it and still have enough to buy the beater. Even then, in the current market, you're going to lose money on the sale of the truck and pay too much for the car. My point is, don't get caught up in the "sky is falling" syndrome everyone is in over the gas prices. By the time you include payments, insurance and repair bills in, the savings may not be as good as they seem.

Suzuki, kia, and others have some 30mpg cars at about $13k new with 0% interest and a 10yr 100k warranty.
Maybe a better deal than a $2k beater priced at $6k with 20k miles left before it needs a drivetrain etc.
But $13k will buy a lot of gas for a Tundra you can't give away right now.
Unless gas goes to $6 bucks a gallon wait for a better market.
At $6 the sky will be "sagging" to say the least.
