2000-04 Tundra/Sequoia Air Cleaner (to stock tube)
$159.95
and really like it. The sound is nice (acutally sounds like a V8 now) and gained some throttle response. I did not loose any MPGs. I won't have a rig without a K&N anywhere.
if you want it buy it, look on ebay you will get almost any type there.
sound is awesome.
i wish i still had my K & N cai.
but i wanted the unichip so i had to settle for VOLANT cai, and it gave me 2 more mile's per gallon go figure.
but i lost it because of the way i drive. i unse my UNICHIP!
as far as the throttle body i have checked and rechecked mine is still clean, when i had my K & N cai on. only thing is i cleaned and oiled mine every 5g's.
it whatever you want. it it's solely for soubd, than in my opinion there is not better than K & N cai.
gorilla
Just tried a K&N FIPK on my 00 tundra 4.7 and lost MPG's and low / mid power. I thought that would be the result but had to try it anyway. Got the setup for shipping only so no harm. In fact I think I'll give the setup away myself for shipping. You won't like it but it's free so what the hey. I'll ship it for twenty bucks.
Go for it if you just want the sound. Ask the guys who run the 1000 which brand filter they use tho, some are much better than others. Unfortunately I don't remember the filter recommended to me, it wasn't True Flow, and it certainly wasn't K&N. Might have been Volant but I'd hate to give the wrong information. Most filter manufacturers should have a cone which will fit that intake, also on ebay you should be able to find similar/identical tube & baffle setups to the K&N but for much less.
Another alternative that may save you 200$ if you want the sound is remove the small tube from the airbox which leads to the fender. See if that does the trick first.
Other ways to get the sound you want would be a Magnaflow muffler, and possibly a Borla tho I haven't heard the Borla in person.
S&S Header brand long tubes (not SS Autochrome, they are different) will also give you the sound, and a bunch of torque as well.
You will lose mpgs and low end torque. Not to mention K&N's filters are not that great.
Same experience I had. If you want just more noise remove the tube that goes into your fender well. I removed that and it got louder as well and is free.
