Default Lease Turn-In .......Tire Question

I was planning on keeping my 06 Tundra and buying it when the lease expired, but our needs have changed and I think I'll be upgrading to a new Tundra when the lease is up.

I *just* put a brand new set of Pirelli Scorpion ATRs on it, and up-sized them a bit to fill out the wheelwells. I'm running 265/70R17s instead of 265/65R17s. The original set of tires is long-gone.........

When I turn it in, is Toyota going to even notice, and are they going to care that the truck has slightly larger sized tires on it (with tons of treadlife, obviously) ??? Visibly, the truck looks stock.

Do I even mention it to the receiving dealership when I turn it in and have them swap the tires for something off of a used Tundra on their lot before they turn it back to Toyota Financial Services? If I'm buying a new Tundra from them, they can help me out a bit, I think

Anyone who's done this before, help is appreciated

Thx, Ben

If it were me, I wouldn't mention it. They are still 17 inch tires and not much difference in height.

Just read my lease and it doesnt say anything about them being the same size as OEM..........but it says all 5 tires (spare included) should match.

The spare has never been off the truck and still has "nubs" on it, it's on a non-matching black steel wheel as equipped from the factory, and I'll take my chances that they don't compare make/size to the other 4.........

Worst case, they replace the spare with a Pirelli and it costs me $125 or something. No biggie.

Don't answer questions that haven't been asked. Just take it in, do the paperwork, and leave quietly.

Where are you in the midwest? I still have a decent set of OEM 17" Dunlops sitting in my garage. I'll gladly pay to swap those out for ya.

To answer your question though, it really just comes down to how picky the inspector is. And they'll charge you more for that spare than you can ever imagine. Based on how upside down Toyota is on the lease returns right now....they might be very picky!

I'm in Frankfort Michigan Got 13 months to go on the lease, just wondering what situation i'll be at with the tires. I probably could have made the OEM tires last if I would have known I was turning it in............bummer

They likely won't say anything, especially if you buy or lease another Toyota vehicle.

hi, the less you say the better, bring it in and thats it, they will evaluate it, and let you know.
but if you are buying another from them, you have all the leverage you need.
do it all in 1 shot. bring it in , and drive away in a new 1. done deal!
good luck,
gorilla
