Question 2000 standard cab 2WD Tundra tranny hesitates, then engages

I've seen the other threads about the newer trundas trannys perhaps hestitating, but my 2000 tundra hesitates and then surges into movement from a complete stop with a little extra gas. It feels just like a heavy barrel rolled back in the bed and hit the tailgate. I've checked the fluid level(right on the money), and have no barrel in the bed. Made sure the spare tire was tightly secured too. This lag sometimes occurs as I make a left or right turn. Related perhaps, is that I've noticed on tight right hand turns, the rear axle seems to get the two wheels mis-coordinated, with what feels like the inside wheel lagging, but I think that might be normal. Does anyone else experience this dropout of drive(especially in the turns)? Am I facing a tranny replacement soon? I have pulled a loaded cargo trailer on two long trips(LV to Anchorage, Anchorage to Boise), but not since. I've got about 120K on it presently. Thanks for any advice!!
Jer

The first thing I would do is completely flush the ATF with a good synthetic DEX III equivalent fluid (Schaeffers or AMSOIL). Then drain the rear differential fluid and refill with a good 80W-90 (Valvoline dino will work) or 75W-110 (AMSOIL SVT is a better choice) GL5. After the ATF flush, make sure to reset your ECU overnight. This will reset the shift solenoids to factory settings.

For cheap and quick fix, Check your transmissiob fluid level. Transmission fluid level is very important to this sensitive transmission. you may just drain and fill your tranny, it take 4 qts. stay with toyota fluid if you can.

Thanks for the hints, guys. My owners manual states two(2!) quarts in the tranny; I'm going to go add 2 more right now. The flush idea is probably way past being appropriate(that is, I should do it forthwith!). Good advice is always appreciated; thanks!

Disconnect the negative (-) battery terminal overnight. This will reset your ECU.
