Default Underdrive pulley?

I was wondering what the advantage of an underdrive pulley is on the Tundras? My friend just put one on his 07' supercharged Rover and says it gave him a pretty big hp gain, is this also the case with the Tundra?

yes it will give you a Hp gain, BUT it will also have some negitive affects. such as loss of alternator power. if you have a audio system with amps, high output extra fog light driving lights, extra accessories. it could drain your battery.
i also thought of this but since i have all of the above and than some, it wasn't worth the chance of braking down on the road.
yes you should read up on the thread's and posts on this subject.
it might enlighten you on the subject.
it surely will help you understand. under dog racing has such a product. look them up.
if you don't have any accessories than this will help with some power. but i gained 55 more HP my adding a few mod's, volant cai, jba headers, cat back magnaflow exhaust, no resinator, with dual tail pipes out the back, and the UNICHIP mapped for all these mod's.
also some claim smaller rim's and tires will also help with power too.

but all in all if you want power, supercharge or turbo charge it. and your gain's will far exceed what i have done by double.

but the issue will be will the engine, tranny and rear end hold up to the power , for a long time. most likely not, if you use the power more than you should.
hope it helps , let me know if i can assist you further. i will try my best.
thats why i remain a member here!

from people here, they are worth the money according to their reviews. The only bad thing that has been noticed is a very light dimming of your lights which nobody has mentioned as a big factor since the dimming is only during idle.

dimming of the light's means the alternator isn't putting out enough.
just as i said, so if you are in traffic alot, or at many traffic light's thoughout the day, it could cause you to have a brake down, by draining your battery. and like i said if you have a serious audio system, and extra lighting fog/driving light's air horns, etc . any extra accessory's, that are running , your alt. will not put out enough. you will end up in discharge mode.
gorilla

i run over 1800rms, besides many other accessory's, thats why i wouldn't do it. my system means more.
thats why i added the sequaia's 150amp alternator to my tundra. which gave me a extra 20 amps. and 20 amps is better than stock 130amp. now i have a 150amp alt. to help run my system , plus a kinetic 1800 battery plus a 1.5 capasitor, etc etc etc...

I have had my pulley for a while (not sure exactly how long but probably somewhere around 2 years), and I have Never had an issue with draining the battery, overheating issues or anything. I don't see why people stress so hard about their lights dimming at idle, its not a big deal. I have ran 3 amps at one time to a stock batter, stock alternator, and with the underdrive pulley and never had issues.

It has never thrown a code, or broke down or left me stranded, EVER. Its not going to happen.

Its one of only a few engine mods that i actually recommend.

Hi, DR805, i wanted to help so
i scanned through all those posted from the listed thread.
only 1 claim of increase of HP maybe i think it was 3 to 5Hp gain!
hell i got more than that with my K & N cai, if you have time, read every post.
enlightening for sure.

pro's and con's!

battery change, alternator change, heat issue, wear issue's, etc.
and some say no issue's at all.
they do list cost's.

if it was me, and it was at 1 point, i decided NOT to buy it, i suggest the same.
my 2 cents.
there are way better ways to increase you HP & TORQUE. PM me, i'll help you

I think that was maybe me who proved I got some power out of it

I have the underdrive pulley and did have my truck on a dyno before and after. While the measurements may not be exact because they were different dynos it does help.

It works very well for me and I have had no problems for over a year now. My lights do dim a little at a stop light but I use no extra power other than the stock radio so I don't see it ever causing me a problem. And my truck has never come close to overheating either. In fact it cools better after I flushed the system and used some water wetter along with coolant and water.

If you like the like the idea of having one, go for it. It won't ruin your engine and your truck may feel a little snappier off the line.

Heres a thought, and no I didnt search the threads for more info.

I know in my case when I use my AC in the summer my gas needle drops much faster. Will/has this underdrive pulley helped with the additional draw from the compressor? Have you noticed better MPG?

Thats what I would be interested in. ASP Racing dosent mention it on there webiste. I am assumeing that the pulley is designed to lower the load on the engine vs. the stock pulley. I can only imagine that it would be necessary when you have a turbo or blower on the motor as it would casue other belt driven components to lag. However, as it has been pointed out by one member, he has had it for over a year with no problems so... If it does increase fuel by lessening the load could be a worthwhile investment...

Anyone have any real world experience?

i have had one for over a year and dig it.
i also put one on my z32.
it feels like the difference with the ac on or off.
i have all leds so no issue with dimming anything.
car runs just as cool and everything works.
if you like playing with your truck it is a fun little job.
if not, then dont bother.
i enjoy this sort of thing so it was worth it. i also just put the downey endlinks and skid plate on.........along with sipping half a bottle of don julio anejo with a buddy of mine.
that was a good afternoon.
