I can understand wanting to be able to beat other trucks. Its not the point that you should, it's the point that you "can". Thats why my father got the new 2008 Denali Pickuptruck with 403 hp.

That being said, I would think that with stock tires/wheels, unichip, headers and exhaust, you should be able to dog them from a start easy. Now with a stock 1-st gen tundra, you should always race everyone from like 40mph up. I have beaten some surprising things racing from 40mph up.

It's probably good that you don't, I'm not sure how you could debate what is easily proven: the early generation 1 Tundra is a fair match the Hemi Ram of similar year. If you're on restriction feel free to PM me, we can discuss it in a civil manner - provided you don't still think I'm a liar.

YES REALLY! lol. Have I ever seen diesels race? lol- yah I've seen diesel LMP cars, touring cars, trucks race up a mountain, and 13sec. 1 tons...all kinds-o-diesels rrrracin'.

I'm not trying to start one of those really cool 'what I like is better than what you like' debates. Slow is slow and fast is fast. I think anything that kills a 1/4mi under 12 is fast. Under 11 is fun-fast. And any faster than 10 is stupid fast (which is better).

Point was that but pickups aren't meant for it and if you have to ask questions about it you shouldn't be doing it cause that means you haven't done it and if you do do it I wouldn't want to be around it. lol

...had to add. pumping up your truck and racing at the strip is cool. racing around the neighborhood in a 6000lb. box with 1/99% weight dist. and suspension designed to still work with the weight of another small car in the bed isn't the safest thing to do. Anyone saying anything like this just doesn't want you to crash your Tundra.

I like fast cars at truck too, but you can't have you cake and eat it too when you start lifting and putting bigger tires on your truck like both you and I have.

Just a little while ago you were looking at a TC drop bracket lift which would result in bigger tires and being even slower and more dangerous if you raced on the street. Now you want to go faster

Just decide what you want more....showing up people you don't know on the street, or off-roading with your friends that share the same interest.

Heres an idea, just buy an 07+ Tundra and then you can say that you beat them in a tundra. With the price of gas these days i dont know why you would want to waste it.

1. When did i say i was racing on the street
2. I know TONS of lifted trucks that will run 11's to 13's in the 1/4 mile and also plow through the mud on the weekends.
3. Anyone who owns a tundra wants to hang in with a hemi
4. I hate the new tundras they are ugly

Ever heard of a Lightning, Syclone, SRT-10?

Rear wheel drive, heavy duty cooling, frame, plenty of mechanical margin left for added power from mods, plenty of room for huge tires. Just what a race car needs. Half tons are ideal for drag racing.

The notion that half tons cannot function in a performance capacity is an antiquated stereotype from before WWII. People who cling to this are the same sorts who stereotype based on race or gender. One of my best friends is black. Where on the bus do you think he should he ride?

People who enter street racing threads and attack the posters rarely have interest in public safety. Relieving personal stress by attacking others on internet discussion boards is common practice among trolls. The key is find a politically correct cause to hide behind to rationalize the attacks.

Some people just enjoy wagging their fingers at others to stroke their own egos when the others absorb the criticism . We had one "concerned citizen" put forth a death wish a few months ago. Getting to the truth is just a matter of listening long enough.

I wouldn't go so far as to say they're ugly, but I like my '03 just fine compared to them.

As for street racing, we're all intelligent (hopefully), we don't need the conversations always skewed one way or the other.

Just because someone wants their Tundra faster than a Hemi/Silverado doesn't equate them with that dipsh*t zooming through your neighborhood.
Likewise, there has been a lot of needless innocent death and injury from street racing (a close friend of mine included).

I'm not calling anyone out, but it seem like most performance related threads devolve into this fight. I suggest everyone meter their words; if someone advocates moronic actions jump on them, if they're talking about fast trucks spend your time reading something else.

Good post, and very correct regarding trucks and potentially fast platforms for racing; no argument there. But in this case, the OP wants to go fast but won't spend the money to really do it. This thread is a waste. He's covered this before. So...it's ok to take everything in this thread with a grain of salt

I've heard of those- they are fast pickups with white-faced guages, heavier-duty, lower suspension, s-load more power, and in SOME cases better brakes. They are trucks pumped up to go faster than other trucks.

Rear wheel drive, heavy duty cooling, frame, plenty of mechanical margin left for added power from mods, plenty of room for huge tires. Just what a race car needs. Half tons are ideal for drag racing.

And you can use a screwdriver as a chisel too if you want to....(it's unsafe nor does it do the job properly

The notion that half tons cannot function in a performance capacity is an antiquated stereotype from before WWII. People who cling to this are the same sorts who stereotype based on race or gender. One of my best friends is black. Where on the bus do you think he should he ride?

Way to relate the performance characteristics of cars vs. trucks to...racism.

People who enter street racing threads and attack the posters rarely have interest in public safety. Relieving personal stress by attacking others on internet discussion boards is common practice among trolls. The key is find a politically correct cause to hide behind to rationalize the attacks.

Okay you're calling me a troll?...nerd. What is this? You're saying because I'm not on a forum enough to post three times per day the past 2 years like you I must be here to pick a bone? Listen I'm extremely stress-free and write this all of this with a smile. You just wanted to jump in to exercise your wit...bravo. And this isn't a street racing thread- he asked what to do to make his Tundra hang with a hemi, opinions were given and now here you are.

Some people just enjoy wagging their fingers at others to stroke their own egos when the others absorb the criticism . We had one "concerned citizen" put forth a death wish a few months ago. Getting to the truth is just a matter of listening long enough.

Oh lordy- I guess some people just love to point out what some people opine and just have make a dramatic scene of nothing...reminds of something. I guess in your 3,000+ posts in 700~ days you've done a lot of finger wagging because it's certainly not been me.

And what's this? "some citizen put forth a death wish...getting the to the truth".... what does that mean? I don't speak Star Wars

Writing replies to posts like this is exactly why I have 50 or less posts in 5 years. This is such a great database of good information from good people- when you don't get psycho-analyzed for putting your adult-two-cents
If you want to discuss handling PM me. I'm sure tundrasolution members aren't interested in our banter.

Tundraskyline: Well said!!!

Interesting how the poster labelled people who take offense at the immature, ego-driven, dangerous, and ILLEGAL activity called "street racing" as simply being "politically correct".

Uhhh... no.

Just sick and tired of a$$holes on the roads who put us all in danger because they think they get "slighted" by some other immature bozo in the vehicle next to them at a stoplight and the only way they can address their stunted emotional development is to jam on the gas pedal and blow through said intersection.

There ya go- woods! I bet doing a 'shine run race on a backwoods trail would be fun between most fixed up Tundras and Dodges I see.

A 6" lifted Turb/D 1ton on 37s vs. a 2.5" lifted Tundra on 33s would be real fun(ny) to watch. Would feel sorry for the trees in the way though. lol Rally racing pickups!

Well my tundra smoked a Hemi but I'm pretty sure it was the supercharger,k&n and flow masters that helped with that.
