This is a discussion thread titled "performance help kinda", within the 1Gen-Tundra forum, part of the Truck Forums category.
what does a 1st gen tundra 4.7 need to be able to beat a Dodge Hemi? I have tons of them here running around with exhausts which is all i know by sight but i have had a few rev at me and i just never go for it since im 99% sure they will beat me good, but i dont see them being all that fast......I wanna be able to beat one, what do i need done?

- Blackbear 89/93 octane tune (good for 25hp and its amazing, no more torque management)
- LT headers 14.41 @98mph
A REAL truck.
Maybe kept that unichip.....buy smaller tires.......install 4.56 gears.....or just be glad you get better mileage than they do.
I feel like you started a thread like this before....

Here's a thought: You might want to "man up" some, and realize that driving is a method of transportation wherein you share the responsibility to the other drivers on the road to drive safely and somewhere near the posted speed limits - it is not an opportunity to drive like an idiot. It is people with immature, "race-oriented" egos like yours that cause accidents and ruin lives.
Just a suggestion, but I'm glad that you live 3000 miles away from me and my streets.

My Truck is stock With 20'" Rims and I beat them all the time, I have several Friends that have Hemi's and they are really pissed that my truck is faster. Before anyone jumps down my neck, we race at and empty parking lot so we dont envolve the public in our recklessness.
many members here with the older tundra's have claimed they have beaten them rather easyly. without any mod's. so i don't understand.
i know you don't come close for HP or Torque either.
so i can't imagine how it can be done. they have 340Hp . you have like 245.
now they are heavyier, but 100+ hp is alot to try to get.
sts turbo, or robs turbo kit, or nitrous.
run the dyno and you should know if you can beat them at the track.
good luck, at the track. you need about 6g's, for parts and installation.
maybe a trd supercharger might work, if you can get 1. plus some other mod's, uncihip, cai, headers, cat back, etc.

Yah really. Pickups are to carry junk around in not for racing around the street. I have nothing against driving fast but drag racing pickups has got to be some seriously slow-motion racing.
Just bolt on some wheelie bars and no one will mess w/you in the first place.

really? guess you have never seen diesels race then. I guess you think little honda's, acura's, wrx's and stupid **** are fast then?

But that is exactly the case, straight-line speed is dependent on a variety of vehicle aspects. Horsepower is merely one of those, though admittedly a very major one. Curb weight, transmission, power-band; all of these can quickly eat up a 100 HP power difference between two trucks.
I have a friend with a 04 or 05 Ram 1500, with the 5.7 'Hemi'. We've drag raced quite a few times on a nearby dead-end road (that is COVERED in tire marks, btw ) and the first off the line consistently wins. I consider my '03 extended cab an even match with his; you called me a liar last time I mentioned it but I can't see how that's possible.
god, it's so hard for me here, i would love nothing better to get into a debate with you on this.
but the moderators here have instructed i, not to.
so i find myself in a difficult position.
so i will comply with the real people who count here.
the 1's asking the questions from now on.
all other's i will not inter act with.
sorry,
gorilla
