1Gen-TundraGeneral discussion forum for the 2000 to 2006 Toyota Tundra.
This is a discussion thread titled "Transmission question", within the 1Gen-Tundra forum, part of the Truck Forums category.
I actually want to do the same thing in my Tundra. From what I found so far it seems that all the 4OD transmissions are the A340. If you find a shifter from the 03-04 4runner with the 4 speed auto then it might work.
The thing I am wondering about is the shift interlock that locks the transmission in park.
I had a 76 camaro which had a mechanical rod to tie in the transmission to the column but not sure how the Tundra works. Never had the chance to look it up to.
I did some research on several offroad forums and found a guy who put the tundra 4.7 and auto trans in a T-100. He says the TH-400 gate shifter made by Winters or Art Carr have the same shift pattern as the tundra trans. So it comes down to making a couple small tabs to hook the linkage up. I will post pics of the linkage he made tonight. Looks pretty simple.
Were you going to post the pics? Hope so, I'd like to see someone make a floor shifter for the Tundra, although it needs to sit kinda high to be comfortably reached.
