My FIAT averages between 90-140 degrees depending if I have been idling, driving at wot, etc. I have the K&N CAI as well. I guess the #'s are normal seeing how I live in sunny south Florida.
Tundradrenalin: How did you come about to make those adjustments to your fuel cutoff? Mechanically I don't know too much so I am curious as to how you got the calculations to modify your current settings. What benefit can you recieve from doing so?

What are the benefits?
Greater accuracy I suppose.
How did I come about the numbers?
I monitored the fuel cutoff in terms of what the SGII was showing me, as well as what I could hear the engine doing. For instance, if you gas it to 3500RPM, then let off the gas and coast for a bit, you'll notice the engine slowly reduces the RPMs. But you'll also notice that the MPG # on the SGII reads about 5mpg --> 8mpg --> 18mpg --> 45mpg --> 95mpg --> 9999mpg. (FYI, with exception of the 9999, these are all made up numbers for sake of the explanation.) Ok, the 9999mpg reading is telling you the engine has cut fuel and is now coasting without using any fuel. This is when you should be braking with the pedal, it's what people refer to as "not aggressively braking".
Back to the cutoff... When the 9999 came up, I could also hear the engine let up. It's very audible if you know when to listen for it. I then looked at my LOOP, it went into CLOSED LOOP, which I expected, so that's not a very significant observation. Then I looked at the TPS, Throttle Position Sensor, setting and saw it was reading 15 on the SGII. Ok, if the TPS is reading 15, and my engine just cut fuel, I should set my cutoff to 15, right? But then I thought, the engine is cutting fuel at TPS=15, why shouldn't I put the CUTOFF=16? So I did. And now I'll test it out for a couple months and adjust as needed. Maybe I should go to 15 for the CUTOFF on the SGII.
NOTE: all testing and observations were done with the A/C off. When you turn the A/C on, the engine is revving on&off just to keep the compressor running, and you don't always get a fuel cut (ie., mpg reading 9999).

My TPS never drops below 16
My Cut-Off is default at 24
My Loop is "Closed" all the time in the city
The Loop is always "Closed" while cruising on the highway, however, at the deceleration at the exit ramp with my foot off the gas pedal the loop "Opens" and stays "Open" until I coast to about 45mph then it "Closes" again and stays "Closed".
I only adjust at fill ups about 1 or 2%.
I have the stock air box with a drop-in K&N
If there is any other info you want let me know.

My air intake temp is always 4-5 degrees cooler than outside temp unless idling in traffic it will go well above outside temp.Water temp usually stays about 193-195 occasionally for a second it may go to 197. I am running the true flow intake on my 05 DC.
I am surprised that your air temp can be BELOW ambient at all.
AS the MAF is under the hood in a rather warm environment, how can that air be possibly colder than outside ?

i think his outside temp is higher then its suppose to be or something i mean 10-15 above is about my average...

big al, please explain how you can achieve a lower temp, than outside, when the air box is under the hood.
do you have a/c lines running through your air box or dry ice.
but yet your antifreeze is 193 to 195, several more than mine(184-186) in florida.
i also have air box, & the hole in the volant is in the front,
& there is where a get a free flow of outside air straight through the grill, for outside temp.
i wonder how this can be achieved.
i'd would love to learn how this is done.
the colder the air, the more HP & torque is made.
i belive you, since you have alway's been honest here.
i'm just amazed how this can be done.
i want it to.
please explain, my stock air box didn't do it either,
& a true filter is just a tube & filter.
just wonerding, if anyone else can explain it.
since we have alot of smart people here.
quickly i have till monday before my 2nd custom tune.
thanks,
gorilla
Let me clear up this is while crusing on the freeway. Now how is it lower who knows I do have the ram air scoop up front too.Maybe I should check my themmometer it maybe reading higher than actual temp.
thats what i would bet, because that would be impossible....really awesome though lol :P

I dont have the numbers but, in the winter months I think I remember seeing a lower Fia temp than ambient while cruising? I could be mistaken though, it doesnt seem possible, and it was awhile ago as well

i was cruising at 55MPH yesterday for a good while and it was oh idk 110* outside and my FIA was 125* so... i don't see it being possible... I don't wanna say what they hit when i stopped :P

The last four days the fIA has always been higher sitting still and rolling. It makes sense, it is hotter under the hood. If I remember this winter I am going to compare, I think the "windchill" of winter cooled the air a lot while rolling on the highway.

Time was 3:30pm. It was sunny and the outside temperature
was around 72 degrees. Coolant Temp was 73F at startup and
Intake Air was 80F. I drove about 1 1/2 miles and parked. About
30 minutes later I started the truck and the Intake Air was 87F.
I drove, mainly stop and go (more stop than anything) for about
30 minutes and for a total of a whopping five miles. The intake air got
up to about 104F while idling in traffic. A couple of times I was
able to get up to 35 mph for about a mile and it got down to 94F.
The highest the coolant temperature got was 190F.
I had planned on getting on the highway and getting it up to 70 mph
for a few miles, but surprise surprise, traffic was backed up for a
couple of miles. I'll report in when I am able to get on the highway.
By the way, everything is stock on the truck including the Toyota air
filter.

ok i can understand maybe wind chill did have an effect the intake is taking actual real time temperature readings while your "outside temp" is not as quick to update and will not catch a wind chill...i can see that happening :P BTW temp outside is 105* and my FIA was 114* and that i would say is good seeing as its a KN intake and those arent as good as the stock air filters....

At Idle,In Park,For a Total of Ten Minutes,in Direct Sun Light,With the A/C on...
Outside Temp = 80
fWT = 188-190
fIA = 109 -111
again stock air box w/ K&N drop in
btw very cold a/c...nice
