1Gen-TundraGeneral discussion forum for the 2000 to 2006 Toyota Tundra.
This is a discussion thread titled "Tail Light, am i misunderstanding or is it misunderstood?", within the 1Gen-Tundra forum, part of the Truck Forums category.
I have 2000 tundra AC 4.7. The tail lights that come with me truck are the ones are the ones labeled "2000-2006" but i want the ones that say "2000-2003". But the "2000-2003" doesn't seem to appear to fit correctly. Anyone have this experience or know if it will fit?

Re: Tail Light, am i misunderstanding or is it misunderstood?
I do remember that member "Toasted Coastie" had an early model year (like 2000 or 2001) Tundra and he put the 2005 Tundra tail lights on his truck. I checked his pics, because he used to have them up, and he has no pics currently up right now.
At any rate, as long as you are buying the tail lights for the access cab or regular cab you should be fine, right up to I think 2006. The doublecab lights will not fit access cab.
You also may need to tweak your wiring harness as the backup light is up top, then turn signal, then brake light on the newer lights. On your model year it goes turn signal up top, then brake light, then back up light.
Why not send Toasted Coastie a private message and see what he says, and it should either confirm my information or prove me wrong.
