1) is it a reqirment to install performanse or whatever its called control arms when u install camburg's coilovers/shocks. 2) whats the diff between adjustable bilstein 5100 and camburg's shoks besides 400$ 3) whats the best way bring the rear up (aal, block, anything else ... ? hope the quastions dont sounds stupid just tryin to gather info

Not that Bilstein is bad by anymeans, but there 5100 adj. strut is not even in the same ballpark as sway-a-way's (not burg's) 2.5" coil over.

There is a reason why they are that much more...and trust me there worth every penny.

Ditto. If you do not do much off roading you will not need the benefits of the Sway A Ways. BUT they are better.

Bilstein shocks are Better then Sway A Way when you get into the custom off road stuff but the Bilsteins that come on or bolt on to stock/slightly modified vehicles are OK.

You do not "HAVE" to install the control arms but the lift puts more stress on the upper ball joint. Plus I think you may get a little more lift with them on.

As for what is best for the rear it depends on what you do. If you offroad I would suggest new leafs from somewhere like Deaver. If it is street driven and maybe some light dirt roads go with a block. THe block will give you lift and it will ride like stock. AN AAL will make it a little stiffer in the rear even if you get the long soft ones. So if you haul any sort of load often this may help in that department but do not expect to haul a lot more just because you added an AAL.

Ian is right...night and day differance (I know). You dont "need" the upper control arms, but it will reduce the binding and excessive wear that the stock upper ball joint will encounter with the front lifted. It will also give you more down travel when off road. As for the rear, that will depend on how much you lift the front. If you max out the front, then you can lift the rear (block, add-a-leaf, new leaf packs will all work depending on what you are doing with the truck) as needed. Hope that helped.

thanks guys it make a bit more sense to me now. 1 ) what u guys think would be the best way for me to go i have completly stock 04 double cab i haul about 5 tons and loa the ben to the max with **** too so what whould be the best way to lift for me?
2 ) is it better to change the control arms even if u use those nice 699$ toytec shocks?

If your not really off roading, then just go with a spacer lift up front. Close to stock ride with a nice little lift. Cheap and safe.

For the rear, if your hauling alot, go with an air bag set up. PM Ian (TUNDRAINORANGE)about this set up. He has done his homework on this subject with his DC.

Agree but the airbags will not give you any lift. they just help control the load.

I would just do the AAL first. THEN if you need it 1.5 inches higher add the block

I think you should add the block before the aal....I would never recommend an aal, even to my worst enemy. They alsmost killed (or squashed) a buddy and I.

Yes please explain. I suggested them because he does not off road and carries a load and a trrailer. I have used them on many trucks including my first desert truck because I was a teen and had little money. No problems at all and I even ran those really short stiff ones. They are not great for off road but if you run appropriate shocks it should work there to.

hey dsrtrcr01 u think putting a stock TRD spring on a bilstein 5100 is a good idea or get some other springs ? and would u recommend diff drop with 2.5'' lift.

Post a link of the Bilstein shock you are looking at so I can look at it.

I would do the diff drop even with only 2.5 of lift just because it is cheap insurance for the CV angles. Not sure if it is "needed" with 2.5 but I do not see it hurting anything only helping.
