1Gen-TundraGeneral discussion forum for the 2000 to 2006 Toyota Tundra.
This is a discussion thread titled "Wood Grain Kit Question", within the 1Gen-Tundra forum, part of the Truck Forums category.
I am looking to purchase a wood grain dash kit for my 2005 Tundra. My interior is a little plain and I just want to dress it up a little bit. Below is a link to one that I found from a TS forum recommendation. I called the internet parts dept just to get a little more information on the kit. The guy told me that he wouldn’t recommend this kit for Florida because the humidity would cause glue on the sticky tape to eventually come loose.
Has anyone else heard of or experienced this? It is kind of hard for me to believe that nobody in a humid climate would be able to purchase one of these dash kits
I like the black (may be dark gray) burlwood better. These use 3M tape to hold them on. I have had mine in Texas for the last 2 years with temps over 100 and fairly high humidity. I know it is not as high as Florida but I can't imagine it would be a problem. 3M makes awsome products. The kits look really good installed.

Nothing too fancy, just better than stock!
I've had the carbon fiber one in my lexus is300 for about 4 years now in 115 degree AZ heat with no problems and I love it! Anyone have the carbon fiber one on their tundra? Im just not a wood fan.

How would I go about getting the kit that goes on the Limited? I actually have a Limited, but it didn't come with the wood grain. I have the oak interior and I think the wood would look pretty good with that color.
I have been considering painting my interior pieces with regular automotive paint. I was thinking a dark metallic nickel color with lots of clear so it stays nice and shiney.
dont get those stick on thingss, that is cheappp and it will look worseee get the real deal from toyota from a limited one!!
These are fom Toyota and I am pretty sure this is what is on the Limited. In any case, installed properly, you cannot tell they are stick on. They look great.

Painting the pieces is not a bad idea. That way you can save a good bit of $$ and have any color you want.
I think I can remove the radio bezel fairly easily, but how do you remove the door plates ( where the power windows control are ) ??

The toyota factory kits use promoterless or primerless 3m tape. But I would buy some promoter and use it with the toyota kit in florida for an extra strong bond. If your still worried about the bond checkout custom dash dipping
