1Gen-TundraGeneral discussion forum for the 2000 to 2006 Toyota Tundra.
This is a discussion thread titled "Ordered a Scanguage off Amazon", within the 1Gen-Tundra forum, part of the Truck Forums category.
I ordered a new Scanguage 2 off amazon for 159 with free shipping on Tuesday. According to the website it wouldn't ship for at least till the 10th or later. Even the folks at Scanguage didn't have it in stock for at least a week. I've gotten along this far without one, another week or two isnt going to kill me, so no big deal.
Got an email today from amazon that it already shipped with a ups tracking number. Hopefully it will be here next week. If you are thinking about buying one, now might be the time. I figure if I can squeeze even one MPG more out of the truck, it will pay for itself in less than a year.
I got mine off of amazon about a month or so back too. I hear they're getting hard to find in stock now that everybody is paying more attention to fuel consumption.

I ordered one from amazon back on June 5. Originally it said in stock and that I would get it in three to four days. Well three to four days become a week. One week became two. They finally told me it probably would not be in stock until the middle of July. I canceled the order and ordered it elsewhere. I just got it this morning and plan on installing it tomorrow. I can't wait.
Ordered one last night on ebay for $163 with free shipping. Got confirmation this morning that it shipped priority mail so I'll hopefully have it by Thursday of this week.
If looking for one, seller ALLOBD on ebay seems to have a few left in stock.
you would think that would be the first thing they do! what good is it other than mpg calculations and code reading?
x2? for $75 I will tell you what mpg you are getting.... SH!TTY lol

Why is tranny temp so important to you guys? For towing or something?
I'm interested in this unit for the instantaneous MPG information, along with more accurate RPM and Engine Temp information. For the cost of about 1.5 fill ups, it will help me adjust my driving.
Just doing some local driving adjustment, with no feedback, I've been able to get my average mpg up from the 15 range to the 17 range. Seeing direct feedback for me will hopefully help me continue to adjust my driving habits and style to improve my mpg further, and to know what works and what doesn't work as well.
Yes, I can continue to divide mileage and gallons to get a good idea, but if I want to maximize my fuel usage, then direct feedback on how my driving style is affecting the instant fuel usage is a valuable tool.
I'm seeing about a 2mpg increase in my trip mpg averages. What is neat about this thing is that you get an instantaneous display of when to let off the gas and coast or at the very least how much to ease up and watch the mpg go from 10 to 30 mpg. My commute is now only 10 miles one way but its a good amount of city driving and I think my overall mpg will actually be better than the 18 mpg I was getting with a 20 mile highway commute.
Understand that tranny temp is good for towing, but who would seriously consider a scangauge's value to be based solely on tranny temp? If you discount it's value simply because it doesn't offer tranny temp, then in my opinion you are missing the point about what it can or can't do for you.
But again, maybe I am missing the argument about why tranny temp is so important and why it is such a big deal that it is a missing feature in the scangauge.
I would like to see the tranny temp on mine as well. I really don't tow much with the Tundra, but I'm commuting 60 miles/day out rural hilly & twisty roads. I'm curious what the temps are doing with all this shifting. I'm not normally a transmission maintenance freak as most any tranny will go 100k-150k on normal driving, but I'm shifting probably 10 times more than a highway commuter for the same miles.
BTW, I have a scanguage and am very happy with it as is, but the tranny would be a nice feature. I've bumped my mpg by 1-2 just by watching closely how the vehicle reacts to various situations. I drive a lot of hills and certain hills actually do better by downshifting as opposed to lugging.
I ordered mine this morning from MilagePros, $159/ free shipping and if you join thier forum suppose to get $5.00 back. I just hope it ships soon. Says it's in stock so?? We'll see
Update: Shipped Friday afternoon (same day) with the $5.00 rebate check included. That's great service!
