1Gen-TundraGeneral discussion forum for the 2000 to 2006 Toyota Tundra.
This is a discussion thread titled "My new (to me) Tundra", within the 1Gen-Tundra forum, part of the Truck Forums category.
Hi guys! I've been lurking here for some time as I researched my purchase, and finally about a month ago scored this 2003 Tundra 4x4.
Truck market is crazy right now so I had a few friends in the car biz keep me up to date on Manheim trends so I could make a more informed decision. Trucks around me are advertised anywhere from $10-25k, and sometimes what look to be two very similar trucks may be going for very different prices.
So far I've put about 1k on her and have been very happy. Just the right amount of truck for me when it comes to the projects I do, and overall I've been getting 16-17mpg. And just last weekend I calculated 21.12mpg on a 60 mile highway stint where I filled up just before getting on the highway, and again as soon as I got off

Thanks guys! It also came with a fiberglass cap, but for summer projects it's easier to work with the cap off. It feels great to be back in a Toyota too, my last one was an 00 4Runner which I had to sell in 04 and used a Civic as a DD for a few years after that.

Nothing too fancy, just better than stock!
Congrats on the truck, I've been happy w/ my 03 for the last 5.5 years
