trailer tail light 04 tundra

Have a 04 4 door 4wd Sr5 tundra. Trailer tail light has been dead since day one. Never worked. Carried to dealer before warranty expired and they said no problem. I did not check behind them until warranty expired and dammmmittttt the tail light on trailer plug was dead as always. Anyway, I am fixing to go on a trip and will be pulling a trailer. Anyone have any suggestions before I do the shade tree thing and run jumper wire from taillight to plug in?$35,000 dollar truck and I really don't want to be rigging crap on my ride.

There was a thread last week about a tow/tail problem. I'd locate the tow/tail fuse and relay and check them out and then chase the wire to the trailer hitch connector. I'd guess Tundra wants you to use the relay, but maybe you can wire it from the regular tail light wire temporarily.

How did you test the socket ? Test light, volt meter ?

Test light. Went ahead and ran jumper wire, as I will be on the road tomorrow. Jumper wire works.

I had the same problem in my 05 AC, turned out to be the #5 fuse under the hood, always the simple things...
