Default 2006 Tundra: 265/75s with 8 wide?

Hey guys sorry I'm at work and didn't want to spend too much time on the site searching so I apologize ahead of time. I have to order tires and wheels for my friends 2006 Tundra. He's in the Air Force and in FL, I'm in NJ… so I want to make sure that what I send down there will fit.

About 2 years ago we put on a set of 265/70/16 swamper SSRs, which im sure most of you know run big.. The tires are a good 31.5" tall so they're basically the equivalent of running most 265/75/16 tires. We want to put on a set of 265/75/16 Mickey Thompson ATZs, which according to the mfg's websites are the same size as the 265/70/16 SSRs; so I'm sure that they'll fit on his current wheels (he has the stock 16s).

Here's the catch, he wants wheels too. I know wheel width and backspace have a large affect on tire fitment (at least they do with my silverado)… I'm just not sure how they are with the Tundras.

So we want to order the ATZs on a set of 16x8 American Racing Chambers (which I believe have 4.5" backspace).
He wont be flexing or anything offroad. At most he might take it on some sand… but really he'll just be driving around an Air Force base. He clears his SSRs just fine and has had them in some pretty serious offroad conditions when he was stationed in Texas. So I have a feeling he'll be fine with the combination we've selected but just wanted to make sure before we ordered them.

Thanks!

They should work out just fine.

There's a slight risk for rubbing on the back of the wheel well or the lower lip of the front bumper, since you'll have pushed the tire out just a hair over where it sat stock, but honestly I don't think you'll have a problem.

I had 265/75-R16 BFG All Terrain KO's on Ivan Stewart wheels (8" wide / 0mm offset). Basically, it pushed the outside edge of the tire 1" further out. Those tires measured 31.8" tall according to Tirerack.com.

I had no issues with the wheel well , or hitting the bumper. There was about 1/2" of clearance between the tire and the piece of the fender flare that sticks farthest foward. I would occassionally rub the frame rail behind the a-arms if I backed out of the driveway with the wheel turned fully to either side and hit the curb lip just right, but it was only a slight rub and just for a split second..

Daily driving had no issues at all...you should do fine.
