1Gen-TundraGeneral discussion forum for the 2000 to 2006 Toyota Tundra.
This is a discussion thread titled "Bilstein 5100's for 2004 D-Cab", within the 1Gen-Tundra forum, part of the Truck Forums category.
Got an offer to buy a neighbors 5100's - front and back for a good price. My question is will they work/perform as good as what came on my 04 Tundra D-Cab? I am not looking for a lift in the front or rear, just stock settings. They are new, never used Bilsteins.

My ride improved with the install. I believe they do perform better then stock although I couldn't tell you the specs between the old stock vs the bilsteins.
How much is your neighbor offering the shocks to you for?

unless your shocks are shot it won't be worth th eeffort if you aren't going to lift it

Nothing too fancy, just better than stock!
Neighbor wants $325, I hope that's a good deal.
Also, the shocks are shot, went dead all of a sudden. What other mods would I have to do to put a lift on the front?

They are just shy of $350 new. www.shockwarehouse.com
and you need nothing else to lift the truck. The front shocks have a snap ring that sets the spring perch height. For reference I have it set to 2.5" and have a 1.5" AAL in th eback (see gallery)

the shocks on your truck are shot, you have a perfectly good (brand new, never used) set offered just next door at a more modest price, and not have to pay additional freight?
i would make sure they were for your application and these show the part numbers which i would match and also shows new price! 320.00 new, not sure if shipping would be free but their 1-800 # could solve that question!
