How about the Access cab in the 4x4 5-Speed, wonder what the 4x2 to 4x4 ratio is?

Sorry guys, the person at TMMI was very specific with the model. In fact, he called back twice; once to ask yes or no for access cab and another time for the 2x4. It took three weeks to get that number, which seemed too long. One would assume each Toyota manufacturing facility would have a database with this type of information available.

jmlarence,

Noticed you have a Spintech muffler. I believe your the first I've seen with one on the 3.4. How would you describe the sound relative to the stock muffler? Does it appear to have any effect on your performance, either good or bad?
Thanks!

geowpow,

The Spintech Sportsman street has been installed for six weeks. Installed the TRD air filter at the same time. More air in, more air out seemed to make perfect sense. A TS member in NE posted a 5hp and 10lbs/trq over stock at the group dyno run with the Spintech.

As fas as sound, it is louder than stock. Its all about personal preference. I've got $1200 into the stereo system and still some days will just roll down the windows and listen to the exhaust. I think it sounds nice. Loudest at 2000-3000rpm, quiet at highway speed.

As far as performance, the truck "pulls" harder and faster through the gears which should translate to more torque. Also picked up a 1 mpg gain since the install. Very happy with the product.

I guess the V6 is either really rare, or going extinct! While else would they take away our V6 Forum?

I've been shopping around over the last week. Have gone to 3 dealers in New Hampshire. One didn't have any new trucks on the lot, another had 7, 2 were V6's with one an Auto Access Cab. Another had about 15 with their website showing 42 Tundras (including in-stock and on order). Out of the 42, there were:

2 Auto Access Cab 4X4
6 5-Spd Access Cab 4X2
1 Auto Std Cab 4X2
2 5-Spd Cab 4X2

4X2's are rare to begin with in New England, most people want 4X4's because of the snow.

I asked if they could locate a V6 Auto 4X2 with specific options for me. They did a search and found quite a few but only two in my color choice. Rare but not uncommon.

After reading just how few V-6's are out there, I guess we really know how "Limited" they are and we really know what vehicle should be called " Limited" and the current Limited should be called I propose the "Commoner Truck".

That sounds sweet! I bet those are quick.

My dad's 4cyl Taco has quite a bit of giddy up so I can only imagine.

Default V8 in the grill

Also liked not having the V8 in the grille...

The easisest "Mod" for a V8 Tundra is removing the V8 from the grill. It is a clip in piece that takes about 10 seconds to remove and leaves no evidence that it was ever there....

Is this normal? What mpg do the V8 2WD get?

Thanks

GatorEm

15 mpg on the highway is pretty low. My V6 automatic gets 21 mpg at 70 mph average on mid-grade gas.

You should have your engine checked.

I just purchased an 02 Tundra last week. It is the base 2wd reg cab v6 automatic. It has the vinyl bench, and rubber floor.- great for a work truck. It also has tilt, bedliner, lund visors on the windows and hood gaurd, and fog lights. Love the base stereo- seperate tweets. I have only owned one Toy in the past- an 84 Celica GTS five speed. That was a great car.
Anywho- I had a Mazda 01 B3000 ex cab manual trans.- That was a great truck (no kidding) but I am 6ft 5 and my upper back was killing me. I realised last week that those Ranger bench/buckets aren't made for tall people. The headrest part angles forward, but it begin too low and actually was pushing my shoulder blades forward. Anyway, this Tundra is pefect (eevn though I wish Toy made a short wheel base version). I saw it advertised in the paper at a dealer for $12.5k but with no added information- I thought it was probably a high mileage base beater without even air conditioning. I called and it was a 17k mile automatic with tilt, a/c and a bedliner (the salesman couldn't find the truck for a while, then after realising the price of the truck and asking the manager about the advertised price, he said the salesmanager put that in their to draw people in for the weekend). I drove straight there after work and even negotiated within 300$ of blue book for my trade in- and a 3.9% loan. I am stoked.(the salesman even told me when I was done that they had no money in the deal- he was suprised the sales manager agreed to my demands)

Anywho. My current gripes are small- the handling is quite poor for even a large pickup. The ride is abviously tuned for comfort, but at the expense of any attempt at handkling. My B cornered flat and was very fun- until you hit a bump. The tire noise is a bit loud- but that may be the tires fault and/or related to just having a rubber floor. The b-pillars are big and create blind spots. The steering and brakes are numb. The heater/air conditioning fan is loud (may have leaves blocking the intake vent).

I like the room, the driving position, the simple no nonsense looks and easy clean interior, the dash and switches, the stereo, the ride comfort, the fuel economy (I am getting 20mpg in mixed driving), the power (more than I expected from the base engine), the build quality, and for a long truck it actually has a decent turning circle.

peace, Bryan.
