1Gen-TundraGeneral discussion forum for the 2000 to 2006 Toyota Tundra.
This is a discussion thread titled "HID (Where did you buy?)", within the 1Gen-Tundra forum, part of the Truck Forums category.
Well my silverstars went out last night just one side and i want to do HID's so badly because i might as well spend the money now.
Where did you guys from yours from, what was in the kit, how did you install them, was it just plug and play?
I got mine off ebay. I got the low/hi models which you need for the tundra. Install took about 30 minutes and was a simple plug and play. I absolutly love them but I have had one headache with them. I got a cheaper set and the hi/low feature quit working and they were stuck on hi-beams. All I had to do was aim the headlights down so they dont bother people anymore but I no longer have hi/low. I guess its not a big deal and I wouldnt ever go back to stock. Hope that helps.

You do not have to buy a set of Bi Xenon HID headlights. I have a set that is not High/Low and it works great.
If the light is already bright as it is, than why purchase the Bi Xenon. That was my thought.
ebay special. $70 shipped. Took over 2 weeks to get them though, crappy customer service. Dunno the name but it was a crazy sounding chinese brand. Just pick some that are cheap and go with them. Mine are bright as can be and i have them running 24/7 when the truck is on day or night and they are still good after 1 yr now. GL!

I bought a $95 kit for my lexus IS300 foglights and they are still strong 3 years later. I dont see a need to buy those $400+ kits. The cheap ones almost always work just fine. Mine have been perfect for almosta year except for the hi/low feature going out but the day I got them I knew that would happen cause it looked like a poor design. HID's kick ***.

I bought mine from Pilothid.com and I have never been able to get them to work right. By that I mean not flicker. I even bought their relay kit and they still flicker. Not recommended.
From personal experience, I would rather just spend the cash and get a full retrofit done instead of these kits. I have an H4 6K temp kit from o-nex that I took out when i retrofitted my headlights. If you still are looking for a kit then I can sell you mines. Nothing is wrong with it and the kit works just fine after about 15 months of usage.
The company is now called o-nex from Halo before. Halo was a reputable company in the aftermarket lighting world along with brands like McCullouch ?sp or something like that. It was either from them, halo, or supervision which I would have recommended to use. The only thing from mccullouch was that their ballasts were crap and have been reported to die very shortly.
Let me know if your still interested
