yeah, forgot to mention that i also have a diff drop. bought it with the toyotec lift kit that i had before the 5100's. if i'm not mistaken, all diff drops are the same and is 1" of a drop. with the diff drop and another clamp on the inner CV boot, you should not have any problems with your boots leaking.

Wait a minute. I was going to mount the 5100's on the 4th space up front...for 2.5" lift, and mount a 1" block rear, then drop the front diff 1". Does all this sound about right to fit 285/70 17's on stock wheels on an '06 DC 4WD?
Reading the above tells me that I might need to add another clamp to the CV joint to keep the boots from leaking. Where exactly are people putting these clamps that they don't interfere with the CV joint itself?

i got mines set to the 5th notch with rear AAL and it's pretty leveled out. just a 1/2" higher in the rear. as for the 285's, they may or may not fit. there is a lot of people saying they fit and a lot of people that says they don't fit. if they rub, you can always get some wheel adapters.
just add another hose clamp OVER the factory clamps and you should be ok. it does not interfere with the CV boots.

Thanks IntegraGSR! I thought that they would fit from what I have seen on here over the months that I have been thinking about this project. I measured from ground to wheel wells on level ground, with the 265/65 17's.
Before Lift: Lift Amount: After Lift:
Front= 33.75" 2.5" 36.25"
Rear= 35.5" 1.0"36.50"
Rake= 1.75" -1.5"Difference 0.25"
I have not done the lift yet, but intend to do it this weekend with the help of a friend who owns a Porsche tuning shop. The tires (Bridgestone Revo AT2's) are going on at the end of the month, so until then, it might look a little strange. I thought that I read that the only draw back to the 285's were some rubbing at full lock. Because I don't really take it off road, it shouldn't be a problem. I'll just have to do more "K-Turnish" maneuvers in parking lots.
I'll do some before and after and maybe some during photo's and post them in a thread later. I just previewed the thread, sorry about the "spreadsheet" being all compressed. It didn't honor the spaces I put in there.

Reason: forgot to add initial tire size
So, thus far I have done the Bilstein 5100's front and rear, with a 1" block in the back, 1" diff drop, and the front's on the highest setting. I thought the new tires would mount on the stock rims, but I needed spacers to allow for clearance with the UCA's and the larger tires. I was putting the wheel spacers on last night, and I noticed CV Boot grease all over the place on both sides. I was going to have the dealership mount/balance the tires and align the front end this Friday, but it looks like I will have to do something to the CV Boots before doing that. It has been driven for two weeks since the install, and I was wondering if I just squirt some grease in there, and put on heavy duty hose clamps, will it last? My local dealership is great, but they have never had anyone lift their Tundra, so I'm relying on you guys!
I was also considering remounting the VSC module so it maintains the factory angle, but the CV Boot looks like more important at this point.

Yes - Any Bilstein shocks will provide much better handling on or off road.
If you're doing any lifting, get the 1" Differential drop kit. Easy to install, about $35 shipped and will help save your front end and CV's.
That said, with the front lifted, CV problems are inevitable at some point. Mine blew the original clamps off and spewed grease all over. I did my best to seal'em back up but knew it was a timebomb. That was 50K ago and they're still okay.
Instead of messing around with a do nothing 1" spacer block in the rear, have a local spring shop make you a leaf (maybe $80 for both sides total) and add a leaf in there to get that inch back. You'll sit level and add a couple hundred pounds to your bed capacity without sacrificing much in over the road feel. Then you can pick up that ton of mulch or dirt or rocks without stressing so much about snapping a spring.
Good luck and have fun lifting!

For your CV problem, you said it just get some cv grease and some large hose clamps and strap them on, many people on here have done that including me, i did it over a year ago without problems since then, later on down the road you can upgrade to larger boots but the hose clamps are a good cheap fix.

for anyone who's curious, I just had the 5100's installed all around with the fronts on the middle setting. did the diff drop as well with new 285 Nitto Terra Grappler A/T's. Still had the CV boot issue immediately despite the using only the middle setting on the 5100's. put the clamps on in 10 minutes and it's fine. No block or AAL in the rear and only minor rubbing at FULL turn (which you should avoid anyway).
I just purchased a 2006 tundra limited DC 4x4. I wanted to level it out by using bilstein 5100's adjustable front shock. I also wanted to add bfg's 285/70 17's. Has anyone done this and is there going to be a problem fitting the tire ie. will they rub?

you could read this entire thread and then search this forum and all your questions will be answered
