Question 03 Horn Relay?

I have an 03 tundra with a none working horn. The fuse is ok & the horns work when jumped directly to 12V. I have removed the airbag & looked for the switch , but am a little intimidated by the airbag. Is the a horn relay ? Is there any way to test the switch? I just need an quick fix to pass inspection. Any help appreceiated

Take a look at this, it's supposedly for 01-06 non DC models. The DC has a horn relay, but I couldn't find any reference to a relay for non DC models.

OK , so it's not only the horn but the cruise control does not work either. Is one of the relays on the back of the inside fuse panel responsible for these fuctions?

I know you said the horn fuse was O.K. but is there 12 volts at that fuse? Is your truck an access cab and do you have daytime running lights?

In the top figure below, supplied by Single, you will see the huge curved black arrow pointing to a plug indicating "without drl". This is Juntion block "1L". Pin number 12 on the wite harness connector should have a green wire with a red stripe. If you can unplug that connector and test pin 12 with an ohm meter, It should read 0 ohms to ground when you push the horn on the steering wheel. If so, the horn switch is working. Let me know and I will see where to go from there. If it is the switch I will see if I can find it in my book. If it is not the switch, it iis either going to be a connection or your integration relay.

I think when you run the test above, you will determine the horn switch is bad. It is called C16 and is a "combination switch". It also works to control the cruise control which you said is also not working. I will therefore go ahead and see if I can find the location in my book.

The switch C16 is made up of the cruise control buttons you push and continues to a point under the steering pad. Check to see if you have a good ground at pin 4 of the connector. When pushing the horn, you should then have ground to pin 6. Good luck and let us know how you come out. I would be curious if you could explain what actually makes contact as you push the horn. I did not want to take my truck apart!

The horn contacts the steering wheel 'frame' thought 4 mounting bolts, that circuit is held open by plastic washers & springs, when you press the horn (to include airbag module) two steel brackets make contact to the steering wheel 'yoke' and complete the circuit & hopefully your horn blows. You can see this by removing the trim around your tilt lever and/or your cruise control, they pop right out. My problem seems to be in the "rotator switch" between the actual steering column and the steering wheel, i have no continuity before or after this assembly. There is a decal with a barcode and the number 2dg415*d on it. I will go to the dealer to see if I can order this part tommorow. I jumped the #12 pin on the fuse box to the ground & the horn sounds. Thank you for your help.

I requested a quote from Toyota of Dallas' internet site. Normally they are about 30% off list. I will let you know tomorrow. By the way, what year is your truck?
