Default aftermarket radio wiring?

hey so i am trying to put my flip out screen in my 2005 dc but the only problem is that no one carries the wiring adaptors to the jbl radios.. they only have the stock toyota system wires... was wondering how to to wire with out having to cut and splice the stock wiring... is there a wiring harness that works? and if so where?

I'm not 100 percent positive, but I believe they are the same. I have a non JBL truck. But when I went to install my aftermarket HU, I noticed that I had the factory amp, as should your JBL. This amp must be bypassed anyway and the aftermarket HU won't know the difference between JBL and non. The standard Toyota harness should work.

Yup unplug the factory amp. The plugs that were plugged in should plug right up to your new jumper harness and you should be set.

the jbl harness is different than the non-jbl harness, you can either spend about 100 bucks on a harness that will use preouts of the aftermarket headunit or just run new speaker wires and bypass the amp.

yea your right I bypassed my Jbl amp and removed that Pos. Toyota isn't well knowen into Audio Jbl is far from ideal in my opinion they could do much better. $100 sounds wrong dude on bypassing all this stuff can be retained from Metra under $40. In fact you don't have to do any slicing on the factory wiring harness make it soo simple now.

MY pioneer Z1 Navi with built in amp work's great couldn't say Toyota would provide anything close.

That 100 dollars was for a wire harness that uses the factory jbl amp by using the preouts of your aftermarket headunit. here is one from crutchfield.

Scosche Interface for Toyota JBL Systems Allows you to install an aftermarket stereo and retain the JBL system in your 2003-up Toyota at Crutchfield.com

You payed too much first off Crutchfield is great on customer service but far as buying from them got to watch what you spend into. For example My system The Z series (pioneer) from them was more then double the price i payed on my head unit. How did your bypass sound from Oem? usually it's best to run from the headunit depending on what Dual Din you buy.

i got one of those modules from ebay for about half that price and it worked but had some static that bothered me and the person i had bought from wouldn't take it back so i just ended up running new speaker wires to the kick panels on each side and splice into the orginal speaker wires there.

The factory jbl head unit uses low voltage signal to get the sound to the factory amp like RCA's, so the schosche module takes the preouts from the aftermarket head unit and sends it to the amp through the factory wiring. its a good idea if you don't want to run new speaker wires and keep the factory sound, but the quality could be better for the amount of money your going to spend and usually better off running new wires anyway.

Default Re: aftermarket radio wiring?

I just installed a pioneer deh4000 and bypassed the jbl amp. Still left it in the vehicle just unplugged.

The following is what I used ($27)
METRA - 70-8117 - (2004) Toyota Amp Bypass Harness - AudioOutfitter.com

The small harness plugs in at the head unit and will give your new head unit power, ground etc.

The harness with the 17' of wire taps into the speakers. You unplug the Toyo harness from the amp at the back and connect the metra harness. You then run the wires up to the head unit. There are also about 10 extra wires that are not used since the harness is universal for many Toyos.

The other option mentioned above is to run new wires to the speakers but the harness is much easier since it's only one path to follow. I also ran some RCA cables from the head unit to the back for future use (sub).

Hope this helps.

why use the factory crap wire when you put $$$ into a nice HU? I never really understood that. Just run new speaker wires... PITA but well worth it.
