Looks great! Glad you went ahead with it. Just remember to be easy on the brakes and throttle till you get a few miles on her.
Congrades,

Default Garage

Thanks...

I have a four car garage. It's two cars wide, but also two cars deep.

If I'm I'm careful on space, I can fit four Tundras in there. Don't think I haven't considered it. I really love this truck!!!

I'm using a lot of gas though because I can't seem to stop driving it. I drove to the other side of town today just to make sure that it was still there. It was, but I'll probably check again tomorrow just to make sure.

Default Tundra vs. Tacoma

I'm new to this board and wanted to know if anyone has any experience comparing the Tundra with the Tacoma. This will be a second vehicle to use as a "hunting" truck. No heavy towing or hauling. I'm concerned about off-road ability. I've priced both and there isn't much difference with the Tundra being slightly more. I'vee got 3 boys, twins 10 and a 12 year old. Is the rear seat on the Tundra a problem? Thanks in advance for your help.

I can't comment about Taco vs Tundra, but will say that IMO your kids are right now at about the upper limit for back seat comfort in a Tundra for anything but a short hop.

I love my Tundra, but they do have the smallest extended cab of any full size pickup.

My 8 year old is happy back there now, but when she's 12?

Default Both back seats are bad

I've had several Tacoma's, the back seats are small, you really only want to use them for smaller kids on short trips.

The Tundra back seats have a little more leg room, but the angle of the back seat is horrible. My 13 year old was really complaining about it.

For me I kept trading up, I went from the Tacoma to the Tundra, now I'm driving a Ford F250 Crew cab. That's the only way that I could really get more room.

As far as hunting, off road, I'd be more satisfied with the Tacoma as it is smaller and a little more manuerable. But the Tundra is a nicer truck, by far than the Tacoma.

You'll have to decide, but either way you can't go wrong with a toyota.

Thanks for the reply. I've got a F250 crew cab that is a great truck. It's just too big to get around in the woods with. I'm going to keep it and get a Tacoma or a Tundra for a dedicated hunting vehicle, one that will hopefully last a very long time. The rear seat is an issue though. How comfortable are the Tacoma double cab rear seats?

Default Also thinking about Tacoma Double Cad

My F250 is mine, but I was thinking about a Toytota as a second vehicle, the Tundra is one choice, but now I'm seriously thinking about the Tacoma Double cab. It has a lot more rear seat room, is cheaper, more manuverable, etc. But I only have 2 boys, you have 3 bigger kids, don't know if the Taco is gonna do ya for any more than short trips either. But the double cab would be better than the Extra cab Tacoma or Tundra, especially if you have a Big truck for Big truck needs.

I'd go Tacoma Double cab for what you are talking about using it for.

Good luck

Tony

Have you thought about the 4Runner? I had a 2000 4Runner before my Tundra. It has a bit more rear leg room, is great off- road , and manuverable. Not sure if it has enough cargo room for hunting however. A co-worker of mine always hunts in his 96 4runner, including elk, with no problems (just not sure if he hunts with others that have a truck.)

Default Nah....

Just sold my 4x4 1991 extra cab Toyota Pickup after I bought my Tundra access cab. I used the 1991 truck for hunting and it was GREAT. The Tacoma is just about the exact same size. That said, my kids (now 19 and 16) used to fit fine into the old truck, even up until last year (a little squeeze, but what the heck) for short trips to and from their activities. The Tundra has a much bigger extra cab section, and the kids fit just fine in it for those short trips. Sure, it's not a crew cab, but I also hunt and don't want that long wheelbase. Can't have it both ways, I figure. So I went with the Tundra to grab a little more room in the back and stay close to the wheelbase and track (although it's 13" wider) of the 1991 truck.

Tradeoffs that I appreciated.....the Tundra has a V-8, more power going up grades and when you need to "when in doubt...power out", you've got it. Also, the LSD feature in the Tundra attracted my attention big time. Now I have 3 wheel drive, basically.

I haven't taken it hunting yet (the season starts in Sept.) but expect it to do everything the old truck did and then some. If you want a full sized cab and narrower track for those jeep trails, then get the Tacoma double cab. I think they look pretty dang wierd myself, and the Tundra is such a handsome vehicle, the choice to me was a total no-brainer.

Brian, actually I did look at the 4Runner but I did'nt like the seats as well as the Tacoma. They seemed too soft at the lower back. Also, the electronic traction control and vehicle skid control scare me a little for a "woods" truck. I'm sure how they would hold up going through water & mud.

Yeah, the 2000 4Runner I had did not have all those electronics that they have now. I wish I would have kept mine because of that!! It went on some trails in NM and CO without problems. Sigh...now I miss it. Good luck on the choice you have to make!

Easy the Tacoma I have both wife drives the Tundra I drive the Taco. It's way better offroad, for abilty th tundra's a tad to big. The tacoma also has the rear locker.. A must!

Both are nice the Tundra is by far funner to drive on road! But offroad the tacoma wins hands down!

Default Tundra or Tacoma

im in the market for a new truck and would like to know what pros and cons a tundra would have over a tacoma. I know its bigger with a bigger engine, but what about the suspension? also, do any of you encounter problems with parking your tundra?

The thread, "Tundra or Tacoma" has been merged with the thread, "Tundra vs. Tacoma" as they are the same subject. ~MS

I have worked on the suspension of my Tundra and my friends Tacoma and the suspension is almost identical....the Tundra's is slightly larger. As far as parking...I have no problem. The turning radius is good and the width of the truck is not much. A Taco can fit in a smaller space than the Tundra, but I am still happy with every aspect of my truck. I would have gone with a Taco but the interior is too small and they don't have a V8.
