Default Shadetree

Hi ! I have a 2000 Tundra excab 4 wheel drive with 135,000 Mls. I live in Laconia, NH home of the original motorcycle week. My truck had to deal with a total of 11o inches of snow ladt year and did it with no problems. I just had mt shift cable break at the transmission bracket. I would sugest to those of you who do your own work to lube the linkage at the trani bracket. The cause of the failure was rust. The caqble rotates on a stud and the stud rusted to the cable end and broke off. I fixed the cable end with out having to replace the cable as they want $ 185.00 for the cable. I used an electrical spade lug. I will explain if intrested.

What would you suggest to use as the lube? White lithium, axle grease, gear oil, engine oil? I have started doing all my own work and never thought about lubing that.

Hi Bad Bones ! After putting it back together and checking to see if it was O'K I used a small acid brush and covered the whole shift arm and cable end with axel greese. By the way I have a Bad to the bone 1987 Buick Grand National in my grage as well. Good Luck.
