1Gen-TundraGeneral discussion forum for the 2000 to 2006 Toyota Tundra.
This is a discussion thread titled "How do I know if I have JBL system", within the 1Gen-Tundra forum, part of the Truck Forums category.
I was wondering how I knew if I have the JBL system. My headunit is the 6 changer style. I have tweeters in my doors. Let me know how I determine if I have this or not
You know you have a JBL system if it has absolutely no Bass, tinny bright highs, and muddy mids, I have my bass all the way up with the highs all the way down and all you hear is tweeter. The JBL system is horrible speakers are made of plastic super flimsy materials I realy don't understand why any company would put there name on a product this poor, but to answer your question you do not have the JBL system You would know because it says JBL on the headunit, speakergrills, etc. If you want one shoot me an offer I would be glad to ship it to you! I'm replacing everything going kenwood excelon 8120 ,focal k2 power speaks, alpine amps!! Just havn't had the time to install all the gear!
im pretty sure JBL systems are single disc, mine is anyways!
JBL on the speaker grills and I think it is stamped on the head unit. My Tundra 2004 JBL has 6 disc and stearing wheel controls too. My father's 04 sequoia has the same

nice to know they made 6 disc JBL system , mine is single disc but i have steering controls,
seriously though I was pumped when I bought my truck and i saw that it had a JBL system in it,i figured i might not have to upgrade the stereo, till i tried to listen to it, compared to the BOSE system in my 06 Cadillac SRX, the JBL system is a joke, and belive me the BOSE system Is nothing to brag about, but at least they give you a subwoofer, the poor people that bought these trucks off the lot probably payed a pretty penny for the "upgraded JBL soundsystem" option. they payed for a Label, just terrible! "where's the beef"
so don't be bummed if you don't have a JBL system, because any $200 dollar headunit and 2 sets $50 speakers would sound better
