Just bought 2005 SR5 TRD Tundra Double Cab 16k mi...Newbie!
I am a newbie to this site. I just bought a 2005 SR5 TRD 2WD Tundra Double Cab with cloth seats and 16k miles, privately, out of Atlanta for $15800 (just out of warranty). This is my first Toyota, and this is my first truck (I am a honda/acura guy). Toyota certainly has its act together. I LOVE it! It drives like a Lexus.
I ran a carfax beforehand and saw three dealer services. Anyone know where to find the recommended maintenance schedule? Should I be aware of any recalls? Any "rule of thumb" items of which I should be aware?
I was lucky to find a brand new Westin Sportsman brush guard locally for $275. I'm very interested in a rear bumper guard, and more importantly, some seat covers. Leather would be nice, but I'm looking for more functionality with regard to washoffablility. Any suggestions? I'm will eventually pick up some nerf bars and tail light guards/grills if anyone knows where to find a deal.
Also any suggestions as to how I can do to improve mpg (other than a K&N and driving slowly)?
congrats... I think you paid and average price. BTW your 3/36 warrant is over but you have 7 years on the drivetrain... don't remember the mileage off hand think it is 76k

powertrain warranty is 5yrs/60K good luck with trying to get better gas mileage. i got 21 on the freeway once, but the drivce wasn't fun at all! i think i'll stick to my normal driving habits and get 17-18.

welcome! congrats on a great truck. As far as MPG just stay off the skinny pedal. CAI K&N won't make any difference. There is some great info on this site. Just use the search function. It's really a good search engine and will steer you in the right direction.
Good find on the Westin as well!

ah, that's it. I have the 7/100k platinum so I can never remember the standard drivetrain warranty

Welcome to TS.com, congrats on the 05 DC. Do a search, and read up on any mod before you buy or do cause chances are the info is here. The Double Cab is a whole different breed of 1st Gen Tundra trucks. Access Cabs are Great! but the Double cab has just a little something extra to it...... A Roll Down Rear Window! You will find yourself using it more than you think, and probably are realizing how many times you have used it already. Welcome to the site, Post some pictures in your gallery, and as far as Nerf Bars go. Raptor Series Stainless, look them up. SaaaWeet!
