Question Change to manual hubs??

I was wondering if it is possible to change from the automatic push button hubs to manual turn in hubs? If so how and about how much to do this?

My actuator went bad so I thought this would be a good time to ask this before I just buy the new actuator.

Thanks in advance.

It is definatly a good modification, I had the ORS solution hubs sitting in my garage but never put them on and finally sold them...big mistake.

I think the most important part is that is saves your cv's quite a bit, plus less rotating mass = better gas milage.

If im not mistaken though, I think you still need the push button to engage, then get out and lock the hubs...could be wrong though.

Yes you will still need to use the push button to engage the t-case then get out to lock your hubs. Definatley a good mod though.

Also, if you know you are going to be using 4wd, but arent quite ready (maybe heading to the snow but still on dry ground) you can lock the hubs and drive around just like your current setup and use the push button and not have to get out

If you search you'll find a few threads on the subject. It cost me around $1000. I had the dealer press in the new bearings. That's the only part of the job I wasn't able to do myself. The ORS kit comes with the bearings and you can get a better CV boot from them. It's a real good idea to change to the better boot if you lift the front anyway.

Good thread! I was wondering how this project went for other people. I definitely want to pursue this task while lifting my truck and having everything apart. Pictures of the process would be nice
