Question Spark plugs

I recently purchased a 2002 tundra with 85k miles on it and would like to change the plugs in it. It has a 4.7 L motor. I am not sure what brand or number to purchase. Thanks. Smitty

Hey Smitty,

You cannot go wrong with Denso. Toyotas are pretty finicky about which kinds of spark plugs and O2 sensors they will work with.

19+ MPG on the Highway at 75 MPH in a DC with a four speed automatic - not too shabby!

Denso all the way..I put a set of Bosch platnum +4 and my truck hated them and me for putting those German pieces of crap in it. go to toyota parts dept. and ask for a set of 8 densos..purchase a gapping tool to make sure the gap is correct and there you have it...shouldnt take long to do....the plugs will cost you around 50$ but you save 150$ by doing it yourself...damn sharks wanted 200$ to change out some plugs... P.S. dont get upsold on Iridium or platnum plugs...they are twice as much and make no difference.

Here you go. This is NGK's lineup for the 4.7L:

TOYOTA TUNDRA 4.7 V8 2UZ-FE FI
Spark Plug
Part No. Stock No.
Standard BKR6ES 3783
V-Power BKR6EYA 2249
G-Power BKR6EGP 7092
Laser Platinum BKR6EP-8 2215
OE Laser Iridium IFR6T11 4589

I run the EIXs in mine. Personal preference. Note that the NGKs are gapped at .032.

Yup, Denso or NGK is what your motor will like. I have run both Denso and NGK copper plugs with fine results. No problems, and they are around 2 bucks a plug....not bad!

I actually just did my plugs on Saturday and get a deal on NGK iridium plugs. They are normally 7 bucks each, but I got 8 for $21. So I only paid a few bucks more than I would have for 8 NGK coppers that they didn't have in stock. It's good to have friends that work at Advanced Auto

Just please stay away from Champions and Bosch. Leave them for the domestic trucks....
