Currently have 79,000 0n my 2001 4.7 Tundra. Stopped by the dealer to purchase some air and oil filters, and asked about the timing belt change. New timing belt, serpentine belt, and water pump would be around 917.00. This sounds high to me.
I had mine done a few months ago and I think it was around $885.00 including a front end alignment. I hated to spend that kind of $$ but damn glad I did. The new water pump they put on leaked after a week. Covered under warranty. I would not have been happy had I taken the time to do it myself and then had to break it all back down because of a faulty water pump from the dealership.
Shop around at other dealerships and see what kind of prices you get. I waited until I had 115K on mine

I'm with Bill 3508 that from a dealer that is about right. I did mine and got all my parts from anythingtoyota one of the sponsors here and got it done for about a third of that price. Time belt, water pump, antifrezze, gaskets, all shipped to my door. Takes about 8 hours to do without killing yourself.

i replaced my water pump and timing belt about a year ago, at about 90,000 miles, than exactly 366 days later it leaked having to replace both pump and belt again
I went to my dealer today and the quoted me $389.58 to change the belt. A new pump would be $160 but no extra labor. That sounds pretty cheap from what I have heard on this forum.
The tensioner is relatively cheap and very easy to change. If it goes bad though, your engine is toast.
+1, I wanted the tensioners changed when I bought the truck as I worked the timing belt/water pump change into the deal, paid $300 total but they didn't even stock the tensioner and only said if they needed changing then they would order them. They said it was fine but who knows.

I asked about the new timing belt, serpentine belt, water pump, and hoses. That still dont make up for the big discrepency in quotes. Yea, that sounds very good.

I hope your dealer is being honest with you. You know what they say about something being too good to be true.

maybe the $390 they quoted is just labor? don't understand how they would not charge for labor for the waterpump though...

I had them print me up the quote and it is for parts and labor. $63 parts and $301 labor + tax
Sounds better. Since they offered to replace the water pump for no additional labor, do you think they can also do the tensioner and idler pulley whle they are at it? If so, you're getting a good deal.

I just had mine done in my '00 4WD Tundra at my local dealership.. Truck has only 32K on it - I requested the master tech that I've used before do the work.
I went into it telling them that I wanted them to do both the belt and the water pump and the cost was quoted at approximately $700 for both (along with the serpentine).
The master tech who did the job had the service advisor call me to tell me that it would be a waste of dollars to do the water pump after inspecting it... Even though he knew I had told them that I wanted it done, it was the tech's opinion that he couldn't bring himself to do it based upon what he's seen water pumps go more on mileage and not time and the fact that everything look "like new" when he inspected it.
Anyway, the total ended up being approximately $350 - labor plus new timing belt and serpentine belt and a coupon for the timing belt for free if they replaced it.
Dropped it off at 8:30 - I had it back at 5:00....
Hope that helps you with your price questions... and hope I don't regret not forcing them to change the water pump.
