I'd use a genuine Toyota water pump because of where it is and what it takes to get to it. With your Alternator, it's your choice, you can have the one that is on your truck now rebuilt or do a swapout.
While you are doing the water pump, is it time for your timing belt? Cam seals? You'll be right there, it'd be a shame not to do them also if it's time.
hi try to google LKQ on line salvage. they have a large amount of parts, they also give you a 6month warrenty. and a alternator new from the dealeship will cost you 600+ there it wil cost you including shipping around 80.
your choise. now a waterpump, i'd buy new. but again they might have 1.
also they might have many other parts, they also will if they can give you the mileage from the vehicle they took it off.
many dealerships use this place for warrenty item's. don't think that you will always get a brand new part.
anyway i hope i helped you.,

I would have to agree that your probably better with a toyota water pump. You don't want to have to take that off if it dies again in a year.
I always get alternators from the junk yard off a lower mileage toyota for around $50. Never had to replace a Toyota one I've got from a junk yard. But check it out when you pick it up. Spin the pulley and make sure you don't hear any grinding, etc. Went to pick up a couple one time and I could hear grinding and dirt in there. Check out Car-Part.com--Used Auto Parts Market for a junk yard with one in stock in your area.
I am going to be replacing my alternator and water pump on my 2001 Tundra.
Should I stick with stock parts or go with aftermarket?
Any suggestions on which aftermarket product I should choose?
Thank you.
On the alternator, have whatever went bad replaced...ideally with N-D or Borg Warner Select parts. Auto Master on Fairbanks in Winter Park has done some work for me. There's also a rebuilder down town. You could visit the Central Auto Parts downtown (it's now Car Quest, but it's pretty much the same guys) and ask them for the information...they had that downtown source rebuild a very hard to find Nissan alternator for me.
On the water pump, Toyota only...don't even bother with anything else, unless you just like doing the timing belt for the heck of it.
Not sure about the Tundra but its usually the voltage regulator that goes bad on the alternator. Simply unscrew the old regulator and add the new one. Very easy fix.

Highly suggest you find a shop in your area to rebuild your alternator. It will be much cheaper and you will still have your original alternator. Most part store parts are rebuilt very cheaply and they will sell it to you even if it does not fix exactly like OEM. As long as it some what works it is good according to them. I ran into this before and then I worked in a parts house, so I have seen this first hand. Very seldom will you ever improve on OEM parts.
Just curious. That's two very unrelated items to go out at the same time....But back to your question. Toyota water pump and rebuild the alternator. Have you done the timing belt yet. If not, now is the time.

I replaced the water pump the first time at 60,000 miles. My mechanic suggested replacing it with an OEM in case Toyota has a recall on them. There were numerious water pumps going bad in the 2000 Tundras, so I did. A few years later I have 110,000 miles now and the water pumps has gone bad again. I would suggest using a different brand, can anyone suggest to me which one? I need to replace it again.
I would go to Rockauto.com and order the Beck/Arnley Kit which includes gasket and replacement bolts (part #1312155). They have the best prices on the net ($133.79) for a quality pump and cheap shipping.
