Just made the 1400 mile run to the Keys and arrived here yesterday. Tried to use the AC and have a blinking AC light. The air coming through the vents gets warm and we have no cold air. I realize most people do not use AC during the winter but we are going to need it here. No Toyota dealers here that I am aware of so I am asking if anyone has any experience with fixing this problem outside of taking it to a dealer. Also, I do not have my tools with me so if you can provide a list of tools needed to fix this that would help a lot when it comes to begging/buying/borrowing tools.
My internet access here is extremely limited so I will check on line whenever I can.
Thanks for any help or suggestions anyone may have to offer. While I am at it, if there are any TS members here in the Keys drop me a line and let's see if we can all get together for an afternoon of grilling out and talking truck. It would be a family friendly deal.
Trying to keep the family comfortable in the Keys,

My guess would be that you are simply low on freon. Get it checked (if possible) or buy a can of freon at any automotive store. They have self service cans that include a pressure guage. Your low pressure switch will keep the unit from coming on. (protects the compressor)
I wish I could come to your cookout! It's 26 degrees here.

We will be here for at least two months so start driving!! We will be here when you get here. Yeah, it's tough here in the Keys but someone from the forum has to do it. I am always willing to take one for the team.
Thanks for the advice I am going to the NAPA up the road here to see if I can test it.
Thanks,
Toby

Trying to keep the family comfortable in the Keys,
Mine done that one time and if the light blinks it does mean that the freon is low. The reason mine was low is cause i has a hole in the line.

DuPont began producing hydrofluorocarbons as alternatives to Freon in the 1980s. These included Suva refrigerants and Dymel propellants.[6] Any of these gases that are used as refrigerants are designated by an "R-" number and colloquially known as "Freon", whether they are made by DuPont or another supplier.

Whatever...the word freon is a generalization...I wasnt trying to step on anyones toes...I actually know a thing or two about a/c systems, but nice try with the Wiki
