Default 7+ Years...75K Miles...Time to Change Timing Belt?

I have not been able to search correctly to see if there's more recent info regarding changing a timing belt in a 2002 (late 2001 production) Tundra Limited w/4WD. I'm thinking that the passage of time alone could have degraded the timing belt, so wonder if I should change now, or wait. I know what the book says, but I don't want a problem if the belt is getting ready to fall apart simply because it's old (like me, I guess).

Any advice on this?

You are rolling those dice! 72 months went buy a long time ago, and rubber ages and degrades just like tire rubber, you are taking a chance i would not take! I take it you have the V8 motor?

My 2004 V8 was up to around 85,000 miles this past Fall when I had the timing belt replaced as I had the time to have brought it to the shop and left for the day and picked it up the next day. As I love the truck and will be keeping it for a while, I did not want to take any chances as it is/was due at 90,000 miles.

At the rate you are going, have the belt changed and you're good for another 7 years/70,000 miles as I know I"m good for another 5 years or so and 90,000 miles.

I think, when it comes down to it, that I've seen very few, if any, belts that have broken and caused anyone catastrophic damage, but I would not want to be the one posting on here if it did.
