White smoke is normally coolant and there will normally be no mistaking a blown headgasket if that is what your thinking. It will be a good amount of smoke and won't go away. If its just normal condensation it will go away after the truck heats up good unless its super cold out, which it may be up there. Here in GA we don't know about such things.

On the oil consumption note, are you seeing blue smoke on acceleration? The oil has to be going somewhere if this is really a problem. Are you doing your own oil changes? Dealer, jiffy?

Ya know I was just thinkin, maybe you are just seeing the condensation when it's cold. It was -15° the other day and mine was blowing condensation the entire day. This is a much bigger engine than you're used to driving so it might seem out of the ordinary for you. I pulled out and gassed hard up a big hill the other day and it looked like the contrail from a jet behind me.
Thank god if that is the case, I was waiting for my children from school and 1 Tundra passby and there is also a lot of smoke and he got a single exhaust, I have dual. I will switch to Castrol full syntetic on Wednesday (I bought 2 cases from Costco) and see if it won't use oil anymore. Does your's use oil also? Some people told me that this big engine use oil.

The dealer is doing it. And I was told that everytime it is low I should take it back to them and they will add themselves so to document it, (just in case).
Don' smell sweet, my friend checked the oil dipstick if it is murky and it is not, he then checked the radiator's antifreeze and it is clean -no sign of oil. The exhaust are clean, not black (I do not know if it can be seen on the picture.)
The oil has to be going somewhere it just doesn't disapear into thin air. It has to be being burned off or leaking if your loosing that much. I would to your own oil change so it can be monitored properly and remove the dealer incompetance factor from the scenario.
It is under warranty, I do not like them to find a reason or excuse and tell me that it is my fault. After Wednesday appointment though and if still use oil, I will do it myseld and I will use syntetic. The oil filter I think is easy to access just beside the Battery a little bit below it. I think I can reach it from the topside. Thanks...
Did you ever clarify how much oil it's losing and how often? Maybe I missed it.
FWIW, mine used no oil whatsoever through 40k miles (5k mile intervals on change). I switched to synthetic at 40k miles (mobil 1) planning to go 10k miles between changes. At 45k miles I was down 1/2 quart. I have also heard some others have burned a little oil using synthetic as opposed to dino. Either way, most manufacturers say a quart between changes is fine. To actually see smoke from burned oil, it would have to be burning a quart every 500 miles or less.
Smoke from a blown headgasket will linger and have an odour. Not sure where in BC you are, but the cold and now the damp fog in the lower mainland makes for plenty of condensation in the exhaust.
Just because "they say" the oil is low doesn't quantify it. Are you in fact adding oil between changes ? If you also want to check the level yourself, make sure you do it the same each time. Best to do it cold in the mornings or after the engine has sat for 15-20 min warm, Also make sure the truck is level. What you want for an accurate reading is as much oil to drain back into the pan as possible. Also wipe it off then re-insert to get a second reading. I haven't known these engines to use oil, I have 352,000 km and don't notice any oil loss between changes.
My 06DC has taken 7 Full US Qts. to bring it to the top dot on the dipstick every oil change and the Mobil 1 M1-102 Oil filter is same size as OEM! I called Corporate cause specd fill quantity with filter change was not enough to fill it to top mark on dipstick! I was told quantity between the 2 dots were 1 & 1/2 US Qts. I have always changed my oil in same place which is flat and level! How have you determined your truck is using excessive amounts of oil?
If it is burning oil, most of these folks have given you good advice. If the dealership has to document the loss of oil for warranty reasons, then let them do it. Dealerships are not completely incompetent, it just seems that way.
If it doesn't burn at least a liter every 2,500km your problem is probably pretty minor. A liter ever 1,000km would make noticeable pale blue smoke that smells like burnt oil and the tail pipe would be black with tarry build up. If you don't have water in your crankcase (cloudy white oil) and you don't have oil in the antifreeze, you probably don't have a cracked head or block. That's good news. Just be sure to get it documented at the dealership.
If it has suddenly gotten worse, you could have a leak under the skid plate that is hiding it. As cold as it might be, oil not in the engine could be very thick and not drip at all. Do you park in a place you would notice an external oil leak? I'd check under there to be sure it isn't something simple.

I live in Fraser Heights ,Surrey. You are right -there is lots of condensation here this past weeks and maybe that is the reason of the smoke in my exhaust. My driveway is not flat so I check the oil level in the garage. It is now between the 2 dot's and the dealer 2 weeks ago told me they added 1/2 quart. I probably drove around 100 kilometers since then. I assume they top it up to the top dot. Tommorow when I will take it in at Jim Pattison here in North Surrey for toppimg-up I will check the level so that I will have an idea how much I am loosing. I will also start to record the mileage so I will have an idea how much I used. I do not think I should change my oil at this time so I will monitor it also myself. The truck really still runs good without any hesitation and we were very happy with it last summer when we travel from here to PEI and back for 1 month.
