Default Sway bars and 4-wheelin

I tried this in the handling section but nobody responded so he it is again.... I'm thinking of adding a Hellwig rear sway bar to my 02 Tundra. Can anyone comment on the impact this will have on 4 wheeling? I'm not rock climbing but can hit some difficult trails and hills.

hi, most don't have sway bars on, if they have a off road tundra.
they make a new type that help's with lifts, or if you wanted to drop your tundra.
my best advise is for you to message DAVE from hellwig, he is also a member here on TS, he would be the best person to tell you.
i have front & rear hellwig, and love them, but my tundra is & will always be a street truck.

I've considered getting one but I go off road too often & don't drive fast when I'm on the road so it seemed unnecessary, for me. I read you can attach "quick disconnects" to the ends so you can remove it for going off-road.

If you do mostly highway driving or tow frequently, the sway bar will help with handling. If you are going off-road, the sway bar will hurt your articulation, if you are doing very rough uneven trails.

You have to decide which will be more frequent.

I had a Hellwig sway bar on my truck for a little while and I loved it. It performed great and I never had any problems with it.

But, as my truck evolved I realized I liked off-roading more and I was willing to sacrifice my handling a little bit. Therefore, I took the bar off....and actually my front one is disconnected right now as well.

They will be fine for a fire roads but once your start cycling your suspension it will inhibit that. You won't get much travel at all....which is exactly what makes it so nice to have on the road. You can always keep the bar on and simply take off the end links for when you hit harder trails. That is actually what I did my first time off-road and it worked just fine. So you can kind of have both if you would like to.

If you end up wanting one I have a great used one in my basement collecting dust
