I just got back from picking up my truck up from the shop, had the 5100's installed all the way around.

I've only been on them for about 10 miles of city driving so I can't provide a lot of feedback yet, but I'm going on a couple hundred mile trip this weekend that will include at least 30 miles of dirt/rock/double track roads. I should have a better report by next week.

There were five(5) height notches on the front shocks.

I have them installed on the MIDDLE (3rd) Position.

The rears increased the height over my stock originals by about an inch as well.

For the record, my truck is a 2002, 4WD V8 Limited with 123k miles.

Here are some pics.

Did you have to do a diff. drop in that position?
I am taking my truck in tomorrow to have them installed.
Thanks.

I didn't, I don't think most of the people are dropping the diff unless they're using the top setting.

but if you know different please let me know, I don't want to be causing any undo wear.

thanks

GK: What tire size did you go with?

Looks like you posted a picture with this info but it is not displaying in my browser.

I'm going with 285/75 r 16s so I'm curious how these will compare with your new set-up.

Thanks.

A little help here.....the shop installing mine just called and said they have a 4" differential between the front and rear. The front were set to the 2nd notch from the top. Said the headlights were pointing straight up (exaggerated).
Something does not add up.
Anyone have some input.
Thanks.

Sounds like they didn't install them correctly. The 5100s in the rear should not give you any lift. If they installed the fronts at 2nd notch from top, from what I've read here that would give you about 2 inches of rise in the front. I installed mine on top notch and got almost 3 inches.

I think the only way they could be that high is if they installed the spring perches upside down !!

Spring perches are in correctly...
If the shock length is roughly 2" longer than the OEM's being replaced, is that the difference? If so, if set on the lowest setting, the truck should be about level?
Geez, should be a simple install.

I think if you put it one the top level,(5th Position) you will be easily 1.5 to 2" higher than the rear.

Mine are on the 3rd, MIDDLE position and its almost perfect, about .5" lower in the front.

I wouldn't go above the 3rd position unless adding a lift of some sort to the rear.

JMHO...

I picked the truck up last evening and was surprised at the look of it.

After what the shop told men it looked and rode like, I told them to set the shocks on the lowest setting. The front is still about 2" higher than the rear. Looks pretty good and rides fine. I am a bit worried about extra stresses in the future because it is higher than expected.

Will post up some pictures in a bit.

if you're on the lowest setting it should be sitting at the stock height, if that isn't the case you either were shipped the wrong parts or the shop installed them incorrectly.

Post some pics of the install, On mine I can lay on the ground and see/feel which position the rings are mounted in..

OK....Just heading out to the hardware store and when I turn to get on the on ramp I hear a bang! Pull over and check the passenger side and the friggen c-clip let loose.
Spring perch is resting on the bottom of shock.
Any ideas on what went wrong...anyone seen this mess before?
Pissed.
