Default 2005 Tundrs SR5 transmission "shudders"

I have a 2005 Tundra SR5 with 105k on it. I have had the tranny fluid flushed at 50k and then again at 100k. When I first bought the truck (I am the original owner), I would feel a "shudder" when accelerating slowly...usually around 35 MPH or so. That lasted about two days and then went away. Now, I have 105k and it is happening again. If I accelerate quickly, I don't feel anything...only when I accelerate slowly. Any suggestions?

Yes, run some Auto-Rx in the tranny for 1000 miles and do a full flush again.

Welcome to Auto-Rx for Transmission

This product is fantastic!

I had National Tire and Battery do both flushes (as I had new tires put on at both intervals) and I do not know if the magnets and screens were cleaned and I also don't know what type of fluid was used...I recall them telling me that it met Toyota's specs, though. The "shudder" is more of a slipping kind of sensation and not a sound...not a rattle. What is Auto Rx and how does it work?

Auto Rx has some really wild claims. See below:

"100% Money Back Guaranteed of product price only. "

They guarantee the price of product only ! What good will that do me if I have to spend $3,000 on a rebuilt tranny ?

And the kicker is :

"You have nothing to lose."

Yes, I do ! if Auto Rx messes up my tranny !

For all I know it might be a great product but I would make sure it is compatible with our transmission and the Toyota fluid specs before I use it.

A "shudder" I would be more apt to attribute to a driveline/differential issue rather than the transmission, but a "slipping" feeling is generally tranny specific. It's the "National Tire and Battery" part that has me worried. I'd be a little concerned about the quality of the fluid they chose to refill your tranny with.

Also, when was the last time you did a drain/refill on your rear differential?

I use this product and can vouch that it won't hurt your tranny. How do you know if you have a fluid problem or a mechanical problem? Try cleaning and fixing the fluid problem first. Then if that doesn't work, try the more expensive mechanical repairs. This cleans the fluid side of whatever you are putting it in, the transmission, the engine, differentials. I used it when I changed from dino transmission fluid to synthetic as a pre-cleaning step. If you do nothing to maintain your vehicle on the oil side, it is worse than doing this simple maintenance step. I don't like additives in general but after researching this on Tundrasolutions and Bobistheoilguy websites and reading testimonials from people who are very knowledgeable, I decided to try it and it works fantastic. I have 178k miles on my truck now and never had an oil leak and am using the same transmission.

HTH,

Ken

I'd be concerned about the fluid they chose to refill your tranny with. Toyota dealer put the wrong fluid in mine one time.

The people they have doing the work on our vehicles some of them have no clue there are differant kinds of trans. fluid.
And sometime just don,t care if it,t the right fluid or not.

I would flush the trans. out and make sure the correct fluid is put back into it!
