It depends on what kind of driving you do, I drive a lot mostly on highways. By extending oil change to 10K miles on Mobil1 I save time and money.

I also use Mobil 1 wally world has it for about 22.00 a gallon IIRC. I go 7500 miles. I have been doing that since 10k and now I have 120k and runs like the day I bought it.

It might clean up sludge and make your oil leaks show up. I don't know if you should change or not at that mileage, just saying what one side affect might be.

Amsoil or Mobil 1. Changed mine to it at 95K miles, bought used though. No reason not to use it. If you already have an oil leak it is possible that it could clean out the crud and the leak may reappear. I'm going 6K miles on oil changes, won't go any longer than that.

I use a good quality oil filter ( napa gold ) and change my air filter every 15 k I see no reason you cant go 7.5k I drive alot of hiway and the truck spends most of it at less then 2k rpm.

not sure what the previous owner put in my truck, but i purchased it at 136,000 miles and went straight to synthetic oils. Used mobil 1 and royal purple only once. Toyota filters are always used.

I would give your engine a once over and look for evidence of any previous oil leaks before switching. Synthetic is higher in detergent than dino and will clean out any deposits that might be keeping any leaks from getting out.

I switched over to Mobil 1 around 60K, now I have almost 120K on her and she is just broken in. I use NAPA Gold filters (oil and air), do not use a drop of oil for the 10K change intervals. Around 80K I sent the oil in for analysis to Blackstone and it came back saying the oil is still good for another 3K and it showed wear like an engine with half the miles I have.
I purchased the truck in 2004 with 7K miles on it, it was a great find at $22K.

Been using Royal Purple now for about the last 3 years and will never go back to Dino.
Made it run so smooth i have to look at the R.P.M gage at idle to see if it is still running.

I now have R.P in Engine, Transmission, and Diff. and am going to put it in Power steering, break fluid, and radiator.
Also I plan on getting R.P gun oil for my Guns.

i may switch over to synthetic. just worried because i have 62k and if it removes deposits, wouldnt it be like a tranny flush? removing old "dirt and deposits" may make it blow up?
