I just put a new set of tires on my 2000 4wd AC. I got a set of 265/75/16 Goodyear Wrangler TD (Load Range C) tires for $500 mounted/balance/aligned at the local tire shop. These tires seem to be very unstable in corners, and you can feel the truck "wobble" back and forth if you pull the steering wheel one way and then the other quickly while you're driving down the road. The traction is great though, much better than the Michelin LTX's I had before. My dad had a set of Goodyear Wrangler AT/D2's of the same size (but Load Range E) that he bought at Sam's Club for the 1997 Ford F150 that he had before his 2008 Tundra, and they did the same thing on his truck.
So my question is: is this a Goodyear tire thing, or a fitment issue, and just something I'm going to have to get used to??
corylee, sorry about your experience...But I have owned "many" trucks that I bought used and several of them had Goodyear Wranglers....I immediately got rid of them either after a rain, snow or just a hot day....to damn unpredictable...see if you can take them back and trade them for something else....Write Goodyear Corporate on their website [possibly] beforehand and maybe they'll help you out. Good lUck, CSM-H

I've heard many stories like this about Goodyear although my buddy has the Silent Armour on his Taco and doesn't have any complaints. I always run Revos so I don't have personal experience with Goodyears.

I have Goodyear Wrangler Silent Armour on my truck and I have no complaints.
I drive to work every day on a road that is pretty curvy, and I've also grabbed the wheel a couple of times and quickly turned it back and forth just to have fun, and I do not experience any kind of wobble.
you mentioned you had the tires balanced and the truck front end aligned, but maybe it wasn't done right? I know some people on here can help you know for sure, if you have a print-out of the results.
Also, something could be wrong... bad tie-rod? Wouldn't that produce tire wobble?
Thanks for the replies. I will contact Goodyear, although if it is simply a characteristic of the tire I'm not sure much will be done. What leads me to believe that it is not related to a balancing/alignment issue, or a mechanical issue on the truck is that my dad had the same issue with his Goodyear tires. It is very difficult to explain, and I haven't found anything on the internet suggesting that anyone else has experienced this. It almost feels like the rear end is swinging out in curves, and when I do the steering wheel jerk back and forth that I mentioned earlier, the truck will continue to sway back and forth a couple of times after I stop moving the steering wheel. It just feels very sloppy and uncertain at speed. I love the tires for their traction in all conditions I've experienced so far, and hydroplaning seems to be a non-issue with them, but this "sway", or "wobble" is bothersome.
You get what you pay for. Good Year Wrangler are pretty cheap tires. I had a set once on a Chevy, while they do well in mud or snow they are very cheap overall. I do remember the tires being very week in turns.
soft sidewalls are the problem. there's too much give, so they're moving around a lot. try a set of BFG AT/KO's, they're awesome. Soft sidewalls will make handling mushy and feel like the tires are low on pressure, even if they're not.

I figured it was probably soft sidewalls, but I thought that going from a P-metric tire to a LT tire would result in a stiffer, stronger sidewall. Its a bummer though, because like I said, the tires grip like none other in any condition. I had BFG KO's on my 1997 Tacoma that Toyota bought back. They handled good - in dry conditions. They at least felt solid and sure. I cannot simply go get a different kind of tire though, its just a matter of how long it takes these to wear out...
The only Good Year tires that are bad are the ones you buy and put on your vehicle............ some people will shoot me for this
I was talked into a set of Firestone Destination A/T tires and found them great, I guess they do got their act together. Best tires I had on my Tundra was the Yokahama Geolander HT's but they were not great in snow, good ride and handling and tread life.
The Silent Armors are a whole different tire than the Wranglers. but that is the way it is for them. They have some very good tires and some very bad tires.
I'd pm the Warren Tire member on another Tundra forum to see about them. They are a big Goodyear dealer
I had a set of wranglers on my ram and they were horrible tires. I have goodyear fortera tripletreds on my tundra and they are very good. Not all goodyear tires are bad. All manufacturers have bargain basement tire lines and you get what you pay for.
