The check engine light comes on now, and the oil pressure goes almost all the way to the 3/4 line when I turn the truck on. After driving it down the street, it comes down to slightly below half. I don't remember this previously happening. If I accelerate fast, it will go back up to near the 3/4 line.
I have heard to tighten the gas cap, and I have tried that method. Does anyone have any idea what could be wrong? Thanks in advance!
The CEL and the oil pressure have nothing to do with each other. Your oil pressure is operating exactly like it's supposed to. Even the owner's manual (you have one, don't you?) shows the operating range as indicated by the oil pressure gauge, i.e. ~1/4 @ idle to ~3/4 under throttle.

hi, go to autozone, or similar and have them put on a scanner to test what code it is throughing. might be the o2senor. many of these have gone. now if thats it there are 2 type's. i forget which 1 is better or cheaper. there is a certain autoparts store people have mentioned, because it is alot cheaper there.
good luck,
as far as oil pressure it's just fine, & like it was already said it's normal, for a stock tundra. mine has changed. no more does it go to the 3/4 line. only a little past 1/2.

x2 oil pressure is not your issue, your issue is with the filler neck on the fuel filler tube! It was a TSB if it set your CEL on during warranty period if not it's on you and shall36 wrote a nice tutorial on R&R of the assy so give him a shout out! Some folks have changed to a new cap to fix issue and it's cheaper to do that but highly possible it's going to come back unless you do the filler tube replacement! Good Luck! Defect is where the cap seal hits the throat and it just will not seal since it is deformed!

That is really bad information to be giving if you do not even know what the code is.
Please post what the code is (most any Autozone can get it for you) and that will help narrow down the possibilities.

Like everyone else has said, get the code first. The two may or may not be related. If they are, the first thing I would suspect would be a faulty oil pressure sending unit/sensor.

Sorry you find my idea to be bad info, since he did not post a code and mentioned his fuel cap, he gave me the impression he thought it was his filler tube/cap. He does need his code pulled and then maybe you can fix his issue! I find it hard to imagine oil pressure that is reading normally could cause this issue but i have been wrong before!

UPDATES? more info? SO i guess you have read your owners manual ? what code was your truck throwing BTW?
I have to say that your oil pressure is exactly where it should be. Mine is exactly the same - 3/4 under throttle, 1/2 at cruise, and 1/4 at idle.
I'll eat my tail if your CEL is related to anything having to do with your oil pressure.

Bank 2 Sensor 1 should be the pre-converter sensor on the
passenger side. I don't remember the Denso part #, but
you should be able to find it somewhere. I bought mine from amazon.com pretty cheap. You'll also need an O2 sensor
tool to remove it. Basically it's a extra deep socket with a side
cutout. The sensor is threaded into the pipe.
Also, your oil pressure seems fine to me. Good luck.
