Default 4.7l valve issues

my '04 has a bit of clicking coming from the left (driver's side) part of the engine. it sounds like my old chev when a valve was shot.

1. How do I diagnose?
2. Where can you buy aftermarket engine parts?
3. If it is a valve issue, could I have potential piston/cylinder damage.

Unfortunately I've been running with this "Clicking" for a while now, so I'm a little concerned it there's some potential problems with that cylinder.
Thanks.

I'd hazard a guess and say it sounds like a simple manifold leak. Do you notice is more when the engine is cold vs. when it is warm?

Are you sure the clicking you hear isn't a sticking fuel injector? Try some chevron techron or b12 chemtool in your next tank of gas and see if it stops. If it doesn't then go from there.

Probably the manifold. Look at the EVAP canister as well (black box with rubber hoses running into). I had a hose come off of the EVAP once, and the truck sounded like a 74 Coupe de Ville.

alot of us have the clicking issue. mine happens under partial accel after i am at cruising speed. VERY annoying. isnt the manifold though. i put headers on and that should have fixed it.
if you find out PLEASE let me know

my 03 has some valve noise at start up, is not bad when warmed up. it has 122k miles,my 04 has some valve noise all the time. it has 58k. Im not worried, syntetic oil helps a lot.

Also look at where the steering shaft comes through the firewall. It has boot that will rip and let in a lot of engine noise. The best way to see it is from underneath the truck. Search this site and you can find a lot of info on this. This is a known problem.
Here is a picture-

half a can of seafoam 100 miles before the next oil change might help.
