Bed is back on, here is some pics showing the ride height. I'm glad I went with 2" up in the back instead of just the typical 1". I like still having some rake.
Also, I meant to post this the other day. This vid was taken with a little camera so the sound quality is not that great. I am very happy with the Borla sound. It is not nearly as loud as the Gibson was but it has a nice deep growl. I have only revved it in the driveway, it should sound completely different under a loud. I'll find a hill to climb.
I usually don't say this but that is SWEEEEEETT!!! Sounds really nice. And the lift height looks great.
How have you not driven that baby yet?

Changing professions or purchasing a service truck so I can make this one all about fun!
LOL, Sweet. Me and a buddy were catching a couple brews. We were gonna do some racing up at the racepark on 106 but they were closed. I still would love a little more height. I'm thinking about the Daystar 1" body lift. The stock body mount bushings are pretty beat anyway. I need some spacers to kick the tires out too.
New rims and tires are not until next year. This year is mechanical and functionality, next year is aesthetics. I like funny looking, so the visor stays.
Stiffer ride, feels like a truck should. In theory the Bilsteins should have given me around 2.5" but I didn't take any before or after measurements so I can't confirm the exact height difference. I haven't driven it that much yet. Theres no sticker on it. Hopefully I'll get that done by this weekend and then I'll put her through the paces.
Hello,
I am in the process of doing the same thing on my 96 Tacoma. I removed the bed clear back in January and reinstalled it in April.
I use a Dremel with a grinding stone as you can purchase them in pretty much any shape. I am a huge fan of Por15 but decided to go with KBS this go around. The truck is surprisingly simple and a I was able to remove pretty much everything myself. I also agree there is a rust issue with these trucks, and am hoping the removal of rust to bare metal and and the Zinc coating with seal will be enough to
prevent the frame from failing. The process seems to be holding so far but only time will tell.
I also own a 2004 Tundra which I have owned since new and maintained a petrolium based coating on since new. The only rust showing is on the exhaust high temp areas where the coating burns off. I am not too concerned as I would like to upgrade the exhaust eventually.
The last time I had the truck in for tire balancing the shop guys said they couldn't believe how clean the chassis is, and it was in better shape then the new ones...

Trucks looking good. A couple of things you might want to consider when the time comes is to take off the body side moulding from the bed and maybe replace the stick on side window deflectors with the Weathertech in the channel ones. They give a much cleaner look. And did you buy a new grill or paint the old one?
I painted the old grill. I would like to get rid of all the chrome. I might go with your thoughts and remove the side molding and 2 tone below that line with a dark gray rhino lining. Possibly cover the chrome bumpers with rhino liner too. Agreed with the new in channel vents also. I won't bother till its time for paint though. The hardest part is trying to decide if I want to spend the extra money to change the paint color. A dark pewter with dark grey or black accents and rhino liner two tone I think would look good.
Illinois, Your avatar looks like one of the pics from the original 2000 Tundra catalog. Its one of the pics that made me have to have this truck. Is it?
