Mine is still a little new (4200miles) and I am seeing 17.4. My dealer says that when is loosens up I should see 19-21 but I am not holding my breath. being light on the throttle helps a whole heap.

I have an 01 reg cab 4x4 8cyl with 139 K miles and got 16 mpg through the winter when I first bought the truck, but the last 4 fill ups I've gotten 17.5-17.6-18.6-19. I am driving with a light foot but I don't think any of my Chevys or Fords could have gotten this kind of mileage. I am driving mostly on rural roads w/lots of hills and curves.

I'd make sure you keep up on your brake servicing. I recently had my truck up on a lift and tried to turn the front tires... felt like the diff was filled with tar. The technician said that there was a buildup of brake dust inside the brake mechanism that was causing the brakes to stick or something. Hopefully getting that fixed (plus and undercoating) on monday.

Sounds like you're doing well enough with the mpg. I average 14.5 on my 20 mile round trip to work. Using a calculator -NOT the low fuel light.... My best so far was 17.8 driving home from Redding with a healthy tailwind.
As one member said though, a clean air filter and proper inflation can really help.

And a reality check-my wife followed me home from Redding to Sac in her '06 Civic. "Only" 40mpg for the round trip on one tank of gas-gaahh

Removed horn baffles. TomTom GPS. More planned when $$ and other hobbies permit.

Without the tonneau, approx 500 lbs passengers and assorted luggage, all highway, approx 70 mph with cruise, tailgate up I got 15.4.

Same trip, opposite direction, tailgate down, going approx 75 mph without cruise, 15.13

With tonneau, mixed highway and city (prob 60/40) 16.29 week 1, 16.67 week 2.

So the tonneau makes a big difference.
