I posted this in the Tire & Wheel forum but got no response, so I have to post it here.
I just bought new tires for my 2006 Tundra DC and (after getting re-balanced 4 times at two different places) they finally discovered I have a bad rim that has "lateral runout", causing a shimmy/vibration as I drive. My present rims have the TPMS (Tire Prssure Monitoring System) valves in them. I have the 17" X 7.5" six-lug alloy rims.
These are the rim I'm talking about....
I'm not 100% if any 2003 to 2006 rim is compatible with the TPMS. Does anybody know if I need a specific rim (compatible with only a 2006 model) for the TPMS?... or will the TPMS valve work with
any Tundra alloy rim from 2003 to 2006??? I would think that anything in that range would be compatible, but I want to be sure before I pull the trigger and buy a rim on
ebay.
I need to get this taken care of quickly, as we're about to take a 4,500 mile trip with our new travel trailer in tow.
Any help or advice would be GREATLY appreciated!!!
