I like to think I keep my truck in excellent condition, it was my Fathers before he gave it to me on my 16 birthday 2 years ago, and he was somewhat OCD with it. It was always garaged kept, and regularly maintained. But given to me with 160k and now with over 183k it wasn’t perfect (but close ). Anyways I searched these forums and online for a week trying to find a color to match my stock center caps, and came up with...
It's Dupli-Color Import Touch-Up paint color code 77-00971 Honda Satin Silver Clearcoat. I know, a Honda color but it is a 99% match. "
Well after a few calls I couldn’t find the Honda color, my local AutoZone said they stopped receiving that color more than a year ago.
So I remembered talking to a parts manager at my local Toyota dealership and he said something about a Nissan color. I went to my local AutoZone grabbed a .5 oz can of Dupli-Color 2000 Nissan silver (8800910 Arctic Silver) and a .5 oz can of Gray Primer. Cost me under $10. Used two gauges of steel wool 2 coats of primer/paint, and an hour or two later...It looks like a 100% perfect match.
Before & After below.
Also grabbed a can of Semi-Gloss Black Rustoleum $5. Wire Brushed, and used some steel wool on my frame and I believe I stopped the rust! About 4-5 hours because I gave each side 4 coats of paint.
All in all not bad for $15 when that’s the cost of one used center cap on eBay

Looking good putting that baby back into shape. Nice job. For a NE truck with nasty winters, your frame has held up fairly well. How are your cross members? You may also want to
use a wire wheel with power to help get that rust out and down to metal, so, it does not get worse, even under the paint. You started the project, now, you may want to keep going with the drums, etc.

Thanks! Yeah well its home was a garage for 7 out of its 9 years in NH, So I think the frame is how it is mainly because of that. The cross members are ok; I just did the small section of the frame to see how it would hold up. I'll try the wire wheel on the cross members, drums, and leafsprings when I do those next week

Looks good! I plan on doing the same thing to my frame, maybe
using flat black though. That's if it ever stops raining here in
Massachusetts this summer! Do you have a bed liner in your truck?
If so, do yourself a favor and take it out and look under it, if you
haven't already done so. I had a rust situation coming from the
bottom working up into the bed where it lays on the cross rails.

A garage and good power wash cleaning every Spring helps with that NASTY salt in NE. I finished mine this Spring as part of my "detail" project. My home base is MA, but, my ride is not seeing NE winters anymore, which makes a big difference.
Here are a couple of pics for the detail right now: (other pics in my gallery)

Surprisingly there isn’t any real rust under my bed liner. We ordered it from the factory like that 9 years ago, maybe it’s just good luck and some faithful washing in the winter? I hope do all of the major rust problems before the end of the summer, it wont be hard I just need to make the time.

Wow! That looks great. I'm also located in NE, central Massachusetts.
We get hit pretty good with snow and the salt they put down is unreal.
I always spray under my truck when washing it, even in the good weather.
I have to admit, it looks pretty good under my truck. There's barely any
rust on the frame, probably less than you would think would be there for
a 7 year old truck with over 95,000 miles on it and has never been
garaged.
Like I said, if the rain ever stops I can get under there and address some
of the situations, albeit small ones, before the winter hits again.
