Does the 2005 Tundra V8 use a coded key? I am doing an engine conversion with a 2005 motor and I purchased a seperate 2005 tundra ECU, but I cannot get the throttle body to work, or the injectors to inject fuel(starts up with starter fluid).
2006 uses a coded key, and all Gen Sequoia. From what I could see in wiring diagrams the 2005 Tundra is the only VVTI drive by wire that didn't, but I just wanted to make sure.
I need to get a code scanner to see if I can figure anything out that way.
I picked up the motor for $1200 shipped, and the ECU for $200. Got a steal. Stuffing it in a 91 landcruiser.

Thanks
did you get the ecu from same donor truck? could it be that the ecu you got comes from a truck that did have the imobilizer system. what part number is on the ecu?
something similar happened to me, i had the right ecu but the wrong harness under the dash, engine would only crank but there was no spark, so i run a wire from the starter relay to the battery, it would stay on but as soon as i changed gears it would shut off. thats how the imobilizer works, the right harness fiex my problem.

well I had the vin number for the ECU, and the dealership ran it. No coded key. Well crap, now I got to figure out why the TB won't work. Time to get the scanner wired up and working.
Got it working finally. The TB just all of the sudden started working...strange.
As for not running, I found out that had the fuel system backwards. I was feeding into the return. A quick swap of the fuel lines and the engine fired right up.
Right now I just got the shorty headers on there, and it just sounds mean!!!
