I just removed the steel baffles from my stock horns, much louder now. Loud enough for me. My son found a set of large boat air horns at a garage sale for a couple bucks, mounted them and a compressor to his 4Runner. Result-earsplitting! You would think the Titanic is on your tail.
Sometimes JC Whitney has pretty good name brand products but they don't always post the brand. I've had pretty good luck with them, just know what you want first. I can't see putting out a bunch of change toward horns when there are so many other fun mods out there.

hi in N.Y city if you blow your horn at a vehicle or any reason other than a emergency.
you will end of with a ticket.
never mind a train horn.
in florida if you get cought with 1 blowing it on a city street & or highway you will get a ticket.
these horn's cause more crashes than speed.
don't get me wrong, i'd love to add 1. i know speed & truck world has several set's, i'd love to put 1 of them on.
it would have to be mounted under my truck, the air tank, need's to be placed either under the truck or in the bed. along with the air pump. but i get in enough trouble, to add this to my list.
i have air horns ,but legal 1's. more than stock, but no crazyness.
there 2 small size horns with a air pump. cheapo type. with it's own switch.
so i can push both oem & air at the same time.
it's enough to get peoples attention.
when i say real, i mean the 1 that is on the train. i live about 5+miles from the train track's,
i never measured it. but if i remember i will try to get the exact miles away from my home.
& i can hear the train horn when it goes by blowing it's horn.
to me hearing a train from miles away is a real train horn.
when i went to speed & truck world , they had several set's.
1 set had horns that were about 3+feet long and about 15" was the end where the noise come out of.
now if you have something like that ,than i guess you have 1 of those set's. some come with 3 to 5 horns.

I wired mine up with a toggle switch under the dash, so I can turn them off and on. I only turn them on when I'm on the interstate and I need the extra volume. In town, I leave them off.

my friend installed a trail horn system from ebay on his 03 10inch lifted f350. it is really really loud. I love it though. one issue is the horns are way to large to find a good spot on our first gens. he mounted his tank, compressors, and horns to his frame. one small issue with the compressors on the frame was with the vibrations though the truck when taking in air. Simple fix with some rubber bushings.
I ABSOLUTELY FRIGGIN LOVE MY TRAIN HORNS!!! IF YOU DON'T ABUSE THEM YOU SHOULDN'T HAVE ANY PROBLEMS. I live in New Orleans and it comes in handy when I'm passing thru the french quarters to get some of the drunks out of my damn way:laughing
