Hi All, just picked up the tundra at the dealers. They kept the quart sample of fluid that they drained out of the gas tank and showed it to me. One glass quart container of two seperated different fluids, with a layer of alge looking stuff in between the liquids. It didn't even smell like gas. One mechanic said he thought it was the ethanol that seperated out, if that's the case it's alot more than 10%, and another said that he thought it was diesel and that ethanol evaporates when it seperates out.
They filled the tank and after I picked it up I added a can of SeaFoam to the tank. It is running fine....$270.00 later and I'm still puzzled.

Is it possible someone without anything better to do could have
put some sh*t in your gas tank, or do you have a locking door/cap?

I've thought about that and feel that's most likely what happened. My 2002 Tundra has a locking gas cover but that wouldn't stop someone. About two years ago someone siphoned gas out of my tank. I know because they broke off the metal flipper in the filler pipe. The locking cover didn't look like anyone had messed with it. I'm looking into a locking cap, but that could end up being a nightmare if someone uses my truck and I forget to give them a key.
By the way, the Sea Foam doesn't have directions on the can like the other additives do.

The can my coworker had was a pretty big one, probably several
"servings", so maybe that's why there were directions. I'm assuming
you had a single application can?

The can of Sea Foam that I purchased states that it's good for 8-24 gal of fuel. As I stated earlier it did not instruct on how to apply to gas in the tank like the other fuel additives do i.e. put into an almost empty tank and them fill, so I just pourd it into my full tank. I am going to change my fuel filter. They didn't do that at the dealership......said that the fuel filter is lifetime. I told the service manager that I did not think "Lifetime" took into consideration what was found in my tank and what my be in the filter decause of it. Go figure!
