Default Thinkin about buying a 06' Access cab...advice needed

I found a '06 Tundra Access cab, V6 with 46k miles. The guy is asking for $10.5 k. The truck has some dings (especially a very noticeable one on the driver side) and a front bumper scratch. Overall, I like the truck a lot, but I wanted to get feedback as to what you guys think of the price. I might be able to get it for $10k.

One last thing: the truck was a rental truck for the first 6,000 miles. The current owner is the second owner and he has all the records for the truck.

Your advice is appreciated, as I am dropping more than what I had originally was hoping to spend on a used truck.

Thanks!

The 06 is the creme de la creme of 1st gen Tundras.....but...... a V6 2WD is very standard and not a truck I would buy( my 2 cents).

If the dent only affects the sheet metal and the paint is intact and free of cracks, figure you are going to pay $200-300 for a reputable technician to fix it.

I stay away from all rentals considering I drive rentals like a stolen car and I know many people who do the same. 10K can get you a good used 4WD V8. I would look for a well taken care of 03 or 04.

Look for a V8, i paid 14k for a 06 with 22k miles, lease return in very good shape, i dont think therese much of a gas mileage between a v6 and v8, but the 8 can tow and will have better resale....

Sounds cheap for the year, which is probably why you're considering it. That said, it should be because a V6 2wd is the nerdliest of the nerd models. If you have any plans of ever selling the truck I would pass, but if it's something that will be kept for a long time and it meets all your requirements....there are worse options out there for sure.

Similar price and specs on my 06 stepside AC. I bought here in FL back in April. Off lease usually means slightly higher as you are buying from a dealer. Used truck prices do seem to be inching up here as well.

Think of it like this,
If a month after your bought it you decide to sell it, how much would you loose? I would try to get it for 8900 if you really like it.

You can do better, especially in this economy, dealers want your business more than ever. I say don't get too eager, if you look long enough a great deal will drop in your lap. For instance, I was ready to buy this 2000 Frontier but decided to wait a couple days for the guy to stew to bring the price down. Two days later I found my Tundra at a different dealer that had been traded in the day before. Very little money in it from the dealer meant they could sell it to me real low. Good things happen when you're patient.

I would try to find a double cab if possible. I have an 02 and it's tight if you have kids to lug around as I do. I'm looking for an upgrade to the double cab.

i would say the V6 doesnt matter being an 06' thats more power then the 00-04 V8's so your not losing out there with only 46K miles is pretty decent but again with market as is probably not hard if you looked, i got my 05 V8 with 78K miles for 17K from a dealer...no damage though

I have an 05 access cab sr5 with the v6 and absolutely love the truck. When I first bought it it didnt look too good but a few accessories later, some rims and bigger tires and it looks great. The worst part of mine was there was nothing on the sides of the bed so I bought some trd decals and had put on. I think it looks great now and you cant tell it from a v8. Plus the v6 has plenty of power and 17-18mpg in town isnt too bad either.
