I put a receiver hitch 2002 Tundra limited and purchased a four pin flat wiring harness (part # 08921-34850) from the Toyota dealership. It plugs in right under the bumper, however when I tested it, there was no power. I checked the fuse boxes, but didn’t find anything related to a trailer wiring harness. Does anyone have an idea on how to power this thing up?
The kit I bought for my mom's 02 tundra had some sort of relay box that was about 5in long by 3 in tall and 1 inch thick if I remember right. It plugged into the factory harness that is located under the driver side tail light. Then there was another harness that needed to be installed under the hood that went from the factory harness by the battery to the battery + lead.
I believe there is an inline fuse near the taillight. Once in a while, I have to spray it with wd40 or the like to make the connection esp. if I leave the cover off.
Thanks for the information! The parts man at Toyota only gave me the pigtail to connect to the trailer and not the relay. I tried to wire the thing myself today, however I did not realize that there is a separate wire for the brake lights. I was planning on leaving on my trip on Monday but I believe it will take a couple of days to get the parts. I wonder if U-Haul has relay that would work?
